1 Job advert March 2019 Summer Support Team (x3 posts) Context INTO is an organisation working in partnership with leading British Universities and investing in the development of world-class international student centres. It specialises in preparing students for undergraduate and postgraduate study in the UK. Our Centres deliver progression onto leading British undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Each INTO Centre is managed by a joint venture management board in which INTO and the partner University are equal shareholders. INTO University of Exeter is now recruiting for three positions on its Summer Support Team. As part of the Summer Support Team your main duties will include: organizing a structured summer social programme; providing a meet and greet service for new students; encouraging INTO s international students to integrate into Exeter student life. These positions are being advertised on a part-time fixed-term basis, due to commence 3 rd June 2019 and end on 20 th September Each position will involve an average of 30 hours of work per week (i.e. 0.8 Full Time Equivalent, FTE). Requirements Candidates will need to be flexible and creative, with the ability to bring new ideas to encourage student integration. They will need to work effectively in their team to encourage participation, and facilitate high levels of student satisfaction through their actions. An interest in supporting students from varied backgrounds or nationalities is essential, and demonstrable previous experience is desirable. They will also need to be diligent, ensuring that safety and welfare concerns are recognised and followed up. Additionally, the successful candidates will need a good knowledge of Exeter, the University of Exeter, and student life at the University. They will need the ability to communicate with and advise students of the on-campus services available, as well as opportunities for involvement within the local area. Working hours will vary depending on needs and will include weekend and evening duties, and you will be required to comply with a duty rota system Monday to Sunday. As you will be expected to provide student support outside of INTO office hours, weekend/evening employment or regular personal commitments that would restrict this would need to be considered during the application process. The successful candidates should also be able to demonstrate their right to work within the UK. Salary 16, annual salary ( 12, pro-rata to 0.80 FTE) equivalent 8.21 per hour

Reporting line The Summer Support Team will report to the Head of Student Services and Systems. The Student Engagement Advisor will provide day to day supervision of the Summer Support Team. Job dimensions As part of the Summer Support Team your main duties will include offering a meet and greet service to new students, organising and participating in a structured summer social programme, taking part in student inductions and encouraging INTO s international students to integrate into Exeter student life. Key accountabilities The main duties will include: Meeting students on arrival weekends and helping students to settle in their accommodation, including a meet and greet service at London Heathrow. 1. Supporting the induction process by presenting welcome talks, and providing campus and city tours to new students. 2. Preparation of and participation in the social programme for weekend and weekday activities, including evenings. 3. Liaise with local businesses (e.g. shops, restaurants, tourist information office) to arrange events/activities for the social programme. 4. Promoting social activities by maintaining leaflet information about events happening in the local area; preparation of notice boards in the Centre, Duryard House and INTO accommodation; and visiting students to promote the social programme. 5. Assist with the accommodation departure weekend process. 6. Duties during office hours (8.30 am to 5.30 pm) include: Page 3 of 5

4 Reception duties, including providing a customer focused, high quality reception service dealing with telephone and other enquiries, supporting students, staff and visitors by directing to relevant member of staff; requiring excellent interpersonal skills, tact, diplomacy and patience. preparing and distributing welcome packs and goody bags monitoring social programme attendance examination invigilation general clerical support for the Centre: photocopying, faxing, filing, preparing mail-shots, data entry etc. assist with distribution of communications to students in residential accommodation. Other duties may from time to time be requested by the Head of Student Services and Systems and the Student Engagement Advisor.
