There are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK. Almost two thirds have a disability and one third rely on others for help, making stroke one of the biggest causes of disability. We deliver amazing, life-changing support to over 60,000 stroke survivors and their families each year. We also fund research to find better treatments, campaign for better stroke care and help people understand how to spot and prevent stroke. 2 Directorate Following a strategic review the Stroke Association has established a new Strategy and Research directorate. This new directorate will play an exciting role in transforming our capability and performance in the areas of strategy development, research, corporate planning and reporting, change management, generation and use of insight, monitoring, evaluation and impact reporting. The new position of Corporate Planning and Performance Officer is an exciting opportunity for someone with good planning and business analysis skills to work with the Deputy Director of Corporate Planning and Performance to design and facilitate the process we use to develop our new corporate strategy, and to lead improvements in how we develop plans to implement our strategy, and how we monitor and report on the delivery of those plans and the outcomes achieved. To be effective in this role you will need to work closely with other teams within the directorate, including the Insight team, the Evaluation & Impact team, and the Change Delivery team, to ensure that our plans are well integrated. Purpose of role The primary purpose of the role is to work with the Deputy Director for Corporate Planning and Performance to ensure the effective and efficient running of the organisation s corporate planning, monitoring and reporting processes, which play an important role in enabling the organisation to fulfil its strategic aims. The job holder will also support the work to design and implement improvements to these and other important corporate processes. This supporting role will include: Mapping the organisation s current planning processes and tools to inform the work to develop improved approaches to corporate planning. Coordinating planning and reporting processes that span directorates to make sure that participants are aware of and fulfil what is required of them to meet agreed milestones and deliverables. Providing quality assurance of plans and reports to make sure they are complete and of high quality to support decision-making. Co-facilitating workshops and other meetings with senior leaders to ensure smooth running and achievement of objectives. Engaging with stakeholders to capture learning and recommend improvements to our processes. Conducting business analysis to investigate ideas or problems, formulate options for a way forward and set out conclusions or recommendations. There is considerable scope for the job holder to expand this role to make an increasing contribution to the development of more effective ways of working at the corporate level.

Provide quality assurance of the corporate business plan and annual operating plan to ensure completeness and compliance with agreed policies. Engage with functional leads and other managers to support them in meeting the requirements for quarterly corporate reporting. b. Provide quality assurance of quarterly reports prepared for the Executive Directors and for the Trustees. c. Build positive relationships with the participants in our corporate reporting process to develop an understanding of their experience of our process, capture learning and make recommendations for improvement. d. 4 and volunteers. e. Support the Deputy Director of Corporate Planning and Performance in compiling the Trustees Annual Report and Financial Statements 3. Facilitate the collation and presentation of corporate KPI reports a. Work closely with members of the Impact and Evaluation unit to ensure that our corporate KPIs are correctly measured and submitted on time by those responsible. b. Maintain our corporate performance dashboards and reports, engaging the IT team as necessary to implement change requests and resolve any technical issues that arise. c. Support the Impact and Evaluation team in using our measurement data to develop a better understanding of our performance and impact as an organisation. 5 5. Support the new corporate strategy development process through information gathering, synthesis, and by supporting strategy workshops a. Support the Head of Insight and the Deputy Director for Corporate Planning and Performance to develop the organisation s process of strategic landscape scanning to better inform strategic decisionmaking. b. Work with the Deputy Director for Corporate Planning and Performance to help gather, analyse and organise contextual information in support of the new corporate strategy process. c. Coordinate the planning and project management of specific thematic work streams to investigate key strategic issues and questions facing the organisation. d. Support the preparation for, facilitation of, and write-up following strategy development workshops. e. 7 Person specification Education Degree in business administration or another numerical discipline Experience Practical experience using the basic tools and processes of business analysis, including stakeholder analysis, documenting organisational structures, systems and processes, project scoping, and development of business cases. Planning and management of projects to deliver against a set of requirements Experience conducting qualitative research methods including interviewing, focus groups and thematic analysis of qualitative data Experience in the selection and use of indicators to monitor the achievements of a project, process or team Participation in some aspects of a strategy development process Skills and abilities Good facilitation skills able to facilitate working meetings, ask good questions, listen well, and engage strongly with others face-to-face and in virtual meetings (conference calls or web meetings). Strong problem solving ability able to work with stakeholders to develop a good shared understanding of the problem, determine available solutions and define the scope of a project or initiative to address the problem.
