This involves the management of over 40 sporting clubs, a number of fitness, health and other sport-related facilities, and the coordination of University and community based sport and recreation programs. General Description: SUSF s High Performance Department has a key role in coordinating the activities and performance of its member clubs, some of which employ professional coaching and administrative staff while others are basically student run. In particular the Department serves to provide support to student athletes in their quest for academic and sporting excellence. It encompasses the Elite Athlete Program, which caters for nearly 400 scholarship athletes as well as the Physical Preparation team, which services the major competitive clubs. The position of High Performance Manager offers a unique and exciting opportunity for a key leadership role in a dynamic multi-sport organisation, which has an ongoing focus on the pursuit of excellence. The successful candidate will be tasked with building long term sustainable clubs and programs, which cater for the student athlete. Recruiting and retaining the best people is a high priority. To be successful in this role it is expected that you will have had some years of experience leading and managing a large team, and sound knowledge of the Australian sporting environment. Previous personal involvement in top-level sport will be regarded very favorably. Because of the academic focus of SUSF you will need to have degree qualifications ideally in an area such as Sports Science or Management. The role will cover eight key areas of the organisation strategic direction, Human Resource Management, Club Development, SU Flames, Elite Athlete Program, Physical Preparation Department, Financial Management, Australian University Sport and other activities as required. 3 Duties: 1. Strategic Direction 1.1 Liaise with the Executive Director to ensure uniformity of strategic direction 1.2 Liaise with SUSF Senior Management team to provide appropriate service and leadership to internal stakeholders 1.3 In consultation with EAP, Physical Preparation and Club Departments, review and devise a set of goals for each ensuing year 2. Human Resource Management 2.1 Oversee the day to-day activities of all direct reports 2.2 Ensure all staff receives the highest possible standards of human resource support. 2.3 Recruit and retain the best people with specific skills sets related to the position 2.4 Perform yearly performance reviews with all staff 2.5 Ensure staff comply with all policies and procedures as set out by the Executive Director 2.6 Conduct weekly meetings with High Performance Coordinators 2.7 Conduct monthly departmental meeting 2.8 Attend monthly club/department meetings with the Executive Director 3. Club Development 3.1 Ensure all clubs comply with SUSF policies and procedures 3.2 Ensure clubs adhere to governance requirements 3.3 Ensure clubs receive an annual allocation of funding as approved by the Executive Director 3.4 Liaise with the Operations & Infrastructure Manager, SUSF to provide clubs with adequate access to indoor and outdoor facilities for their use. 3.5 Provide direction, leadership and counsel to clubs as required 3.6 Conduct an annual club information evening to educate club committees on SUSF requirements 4. Sydney Uni Flames 4.1 In conjunction with the General Manager, SU Flames, oversee the entire operations of the program. 4.2 Attend matches as required 4.3 Build strong rapport with sponsors and other key stakeholders 4.4 Liaise with the General Manager and Head Coach to formulate a roster each year 4.5 Liaise with General Manager, Head Coach and High Performance Coordinator to finalise and execute on an Annual Plan which incorporates membership, community engagement, pathway development, game day experience and financial management 5. Elite Athlete Program 5.1 In conjunction with EAP Committee, allocate scholarships as required 5.2 Provide guidance and support to the EAP Manager 5.3 Attend EAP staff and strategy meetings to provide direction and guidance on department practices 5.4 Assist EAP staff with recruitment & retention of athletes as required 5.5 Maintain sound relationships with relevant service providers as required 5.6 Maintain sound relationships with EAFU contacts within Australia 5.7 Provide EAP Manager with Human Resource guidance as required 6. Physical Preparation Department 6.1 Provide the Physical Preparation Manager with Human Resource guidance as required 6.2 In conjunction with the Physical Preparation Manager, allocate resources to clubs as required 6.3 In conjunction with the Physical Preparation Manager, maintain strong relationships with specific club staff to ensure the highest level of service Page 3 of 6

Financial Management 7.1 Devise an annual budget for approval by the Executive Director 7.2 Manage the annual allocation of funding to clubs 7.3 Delegate and oversee the ongoing management of each area of the entire departmental budget 8. Australian University Sport 8.1 Undertake the primary point of contact for all SUSF Australian University Sport activities 8.2 Attend meetings as required with Australian University Sport 8.3 Oversee SUSF involvement in all Australian University Sport activities. 9. Other 9.1 Attend and provide a monthly report at the Senior Manager Meeting 9.2 Provide a departmental report to the Executive Director for inclusion in the SUSF Annual Report 9.3 Oversee the provision of annual Sports Awards & University Blues and attend each function 9.4 Develop and maintain links with relevant external stakeholders and sponsors Qualifications & Experience: Essential: Professional Sport industry experience (5+ years) Relevant tertiary qualifications Degree in Sports Science, Management or similar Organisational and time management skills Excellent Excel, Microsoft Word and IT skills] Desirable: Understanding of industry best practice Personal experience as an Elite or Sub-Elite Athlete (3+ years) Personal experience as an Elite or Sub-Elite Coach Accountability: This position reports to and is accountable to the Executive Director, SUSF. Conditions of Employment: The position is in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Employment Agreement and the relevant modern award. The successful applicant will be required to complete a Working with Children Check as per NSW Government Legislation. The successful applicant will be required to complete the ASADA Level 1 & 2 Anti-Doping Course as well as the Anti-Match fixing education program The position has a 6-month probationary period The availability to work a 40 hour week plus flexible/extended hours as required to meet the demands of the position and commensurate to the level of the position.
