2 MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING OFFICER Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: 28,882-34,660 p.a. including LWA Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance is a forward thinking, contemporary and world-class Higher Education Institution with a vision to redefine the conservatoire for the 21 st century. At the leading edge of music and dance training, it provides specialist education of the highest quality. Working within the Finance department and reporting directly to the Management Accountant, this is a key role within the team, responsible for assisting with the provision of Management information and supporting budget holders within the Conservatoire. The role will be fleible and you will be epected to work on a range of management accounting tasks, including variance analysis, costings and keeping the budget system up to date. You will also deputise for the Financial accounting officers covering their work on accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and producing bank reconciliations. Furthermore, the post holder will work closely with senior staff within the institution. You will have AAT or an equivalent qualification and have eperience of working in a customer focused team. A good knowledge of budgeting and costing is required alongside an understanding of best practice for Management Accounting. Eperience with agresso (our financial system) and working within the higher education sector is desirable. 3 JOB DESCRIPTION Post: Department: Reporting to: Contract: Management Accounting Officer Finance Management Accountant Full-time, Permanent Grade: 6 MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Under the guidance of the Management Accountant and Head of Finance, arranging regular meetings with budget holders and assisting them to resolve budgeting and other general ledger queries to ensure their budget is an accurate representation of their department s financial position. Preparation of general ledger journals and budget virements and, after authorization, updating the accounting system. Assisting with the preparation of budgets, the five year forecast to the Trinity Laban s Committees and HEFCE (Higher Education Funding Council). Assisting with the preparation of the Conservatoire s TRAC (Transparent Approach to Costing) and related TRAC (T) returns for submission to HEFCE. Assisting with the month end close process to ensure budget reports are prepared according to the agreed timetable. Assisting with the year-end close process by, for eample, ensuring the accruals, prepayments and deferred income adjustments are completed. Reviewing and updating the salary costing spreadsheet regularly to ensure the information is accurate. Analysis, coding and providing advice to budget holders on the use of the Trinity Laban coding system. Updating the Finance department web pages (including preparing information on costings and frequently asked questions etc.). Provision of information on costs and assisting with the costings of activities. Responding promptly to queries. Deputising for the Financial Accounting officers whose duties include: Page 3

4 Purchase ledger Epense processing Dealing with supplier/student queries Sales ledger Credit control Attendance at the registration of students Any other duties consistent with both the grade and scope of the post. 6 MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING OFFICER CONDITIONS OF SERVICE SUMMARY AND STAFF BENEFITS Contract: Permanent, Full-time, subject to a si-month probationary period. Salary Scale: Trinity Laban Staff Salary Scale 6, Incremental Points 22 29, 28,882-36,660 inclusive of a London Weighting Allowance of 3,584 p.a. Salaries are paid on the last working day of the month into bank or building society accounts. Hours: Location: Holidays: Pension Scheme: Sick Pay: Staff Development: Car Parking: Cafeteria: Classes: Events: Childcare: Eye Care: Health: 35 hours per week, usually from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday, (with a daily lunch break of one hour). You will be based at the Faculty of Dance (Laban building, Creekside) but may also be required to work at the Faculty of Music (King Charles Court, Old Royal collage. 25 days p.a. in addition to Statutory, Bank and Public Holidays. The successful candidate, upon completion of their probationary period, will be eligible to join the Universities Superannuation Scheme. Employees contribute at the rate of 8% of their pensionable salary. The Conservatoire pays the Employers contribution currently at the rate of 18% of pensionable salary. Trinity Laban operates the Statutory Sick Pay Scheme, and staff may be eligible for benefits in ecess of this under Trinity Laban s own sick pay scheme. A range of Staff Development opportunities are available. A limited number of parking spaces are available at the Laban Building.
