To ensure maximum participation from eligible women in the Breast Screen Aotearoa programme, with a strong focus on the needs of Maori, Pacific, Asian and Migrant women 2. To co-ordinate alongside the Programme Manager the BSWN Health Promotion & Recruitment Plan and & strategies ensuring consultation with key stakeholders, 3. To complete the BSWN Health Promotion/Recruitment plan reports 4. To implement & maintain the Waitemata media plan. Waitemata District Health Board -JOB DESCRIPTION - Page 1

To source, order and maintain health promotion resources KEY TASKS In conjunction with Programme Manager and key stakeholders prepare effective Health Promotion & Recruitment plans and strategies to ensure health promotion is optimal for service requirements and achieve maximum participation by eligible women in the Waitemata DHB region. To assist in the implementation of the health promotion/recruitment strategies and activities; raise awareness and understanding of the BSA programmme among eligible women and support the recruitment of eligible women onto the BreastScreen Aotearoa Programme EXPECTED OUTCOMES In conjunction with Programme Manager an evidence informed Health Promotion,& Recruitment Plan that encompass a broad range of short-term and long-term initiatives is prepared annually based on input from internal and external stakeholders. All aspects of the Health Promotion & Recruitment Plan and strategies are monitored and are adjusted as required. Waitemata DHB health promotion/recruitment plans are in alignment with Northland plans Active recruitment of women onto the BSA programme is increased to the level according to NSU and WDHB contractual requirements Eligible women, community providers and key stakeholders have an understanding and are fully aware of the BSA programme and services and are provided with appropriate BSA resources. Support and work collaboratively with workplaces and other settings to raise awareness, encourage participation & support women to screening. Support and deliver screening awareness and education sessions to groups and workplaces To assist in the organisation and support at relevant health promotion/recruitment events and BSA activities which may include nights and week-ends Regular Evaluation & review is undertaken to determine effectiveness and impact; and client services reviewed Waitemata District Health Board -JOB DESCRIPTION - Page 2

3 KEY TASKS Develop, deliver & review the annual waitemata media plan to support health promotion/recruitment activities and ensure optimum visibility of screening related information EXPECTED OUTCOMES Media, radio, and communication opportunities are maximized throughout the BSWN communities Arrange advertising in local media supports recruitment and health promotion activities, mobile schedule and/or site/mobile unit occupancy/bookings. Initiate press releases and publications in the written and local media, identifying community champions to be media spokeswomen when possible/appropriate. NSU and WDHB sign off is evident for all media activities To complete the BSWN Health Promotion/Recruitment plan 6 monthly reports to the NSU To liaise with suppliers and vendors to order health promotion resources. Assist when required to provide support and transport for breast screening mammography and assessment services. Liase with Northland Operations manager to collate 6 monthly reports for the NSU BSWN Health Promotion/Recruitment plan is reported 6 monthly to the NSU Waitemata DHB Preferred Supplier process is followed Health promotion resources are maintained to an adequate level Transport and support for women to breast screening mammography and assessment services is delivered in a timely manner Mileage usage is documented and reports furnished as requested and Transport processes adhered to Team Work Community and BSWN Meetings are attended Maintain appropriate level of communication with all internal and external stakeholders including direct reports and management Feedback for improved service delivery is documented All reportage is completed on time To recognise Individual Responsibility Company health and safety policies are read Waitemata District Health Board -JOB DESCRIPTION - Page 3

6 PERSON SPECIFICATION POSITION TITLE: Health Promotion/Recruitment Advisor Minimum Preferred Qualification Relevant health qualification preferably in health promotion, marketing or public health. Has practical and/or recent work experience in health or social service environments Has a clean driving license Has practical and/or recent work experience in health promotion and working in health and/or social service environments Relevant tertiary qualification preferably in health promotion, marketing or public health. Experience Skills/Knowledge/Behaviour Knowledge and experience of a health service environment. Health promotion planning experience and an understanding of social marketing. Experience in media and communications. Recent experience in health promotion/recruitment events or activities. Experience in community development. A proven ability to communicate effectively. Computer literacy and data entry experience. The ability to work independently and be part of a multidisciplinary team. Conceptual thinking with a strategic focus. Understanding of the Well established links and experience of working with organisations and communities in the Waitemata DHB areas.
