2 Welcome to the ANS Academy Located in the heart of Manchester, the ANS Academy was founded in 2013 by Leading Cloud Services Provider, ANS Group. The academy provides real jobs, with industry leading training and hands-on experience for up to 20 apprentices each year. The apprenticeship lasts for 3 years and you will gain the following Level 3 extended diploma in IT (networking and system support) Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals (L3) We also complete industry recognised vendor qualifications with: Cisco NetApp VMware Microsoft Our apprenticeships offer far more than what a university or 6th form college can deliver when it comes to IT. All we ask is that you have a keen interest in IT and you re committed to developing a career in this field. We would prefer you to have GCSE grade C or above in Maths, English and ICT. Earn While You Learn Apprenticeships at the ANS Academy will enable you to learn practical skills and gain qualifications, while also earning a competitive wage that significantly exceeds the Foundation Living Wage if you hit all of your targets and proceed into shifts. The course is designed to be challenging yet rewarding. You ll be joining an intake of up to 20 other people who share the same ambitions. Whilst the course is a work placement, it s designed to be really good fun. As well as working hard, you can expect to make loads of new friends, attend extravagant Summer BBQs and Christmas parties, receive discounted cinema tickets, 2 for 1 on meals out, your birthday off and loads more!

4 Your first year as an apprentice... Assessment day This will include team building exercises, speed dating style interviews and meeting other potential candidates Day 1 Induction- getting to know the other apprentices (lunch will be provided) I decided to join the ANS Academy to make something out of my technical hobby. The Academy has provided me with the opportunity to further my knowledge, learn new skills and gain hands-on experience in a truly innovative, industry-leading environment. Jack Rigby, Former Apprentice Month 1: Bootcamp Come into the office on a daily basis to get to grips with the working hours (attending these daily sessions is key to showing your commitment to the role) This will also include the first pay rise Months 2-5: Training Training with an experienced IT trainer, learning all aspects of the curriculum. Also complete some shadowing of an employee so that you can get a feel of what your role will include. This is the perfect time to ask any questions you have, and to start to get a great understanding of what is involved in your day to day tasks. (wage increase at every quarter) Months 6-8: Placement and training This runs smoothly on from shadowing- you will start to put your knowledge from the last few months into practice, with your allocated mentor alongside you for support. Training will include Vendor training. Placements within the Professional Services will become available from 8 months onwards. Months 8-12: Integration By now you ll be fully integrated into working within the service desk independently, meaning you ll be on the road to passing the first year of your apprenticeship! Year 2 and 3: Complete level 4 qualification. In house training will be provided along line with vendor training

5 Course Introduction The ANS Academy Apprenticeship is broken down into a number of different modules. Some of these are based on theory while some are based on practical elements. There are additional technical aspects that you will be expected to cover as part of the course. Don t worry if you don t recognise the content at this stage as the course is designed to make you aware of these technologies and how they are applied.
