2 Arts and Social Sciences Educational Engagement Officer Educational Engagement, Student Education Service Do you want to provide support for outreach activities? Do you have the skills to evaluate activities and track students and schools taking part? Can you work independently to manage your workload and meet tight deadlines? Working across the Arts and Social Sciences subject areas, you will provide support for the administration, planning and delivery of events and other outreach activities. You will work autonomously and make decisions to deliver presentations to young people, utilising web-based tools and social media, arrange and facilitate school visits and meetings and collect, collate, record and manipulate evaluation data. You will be a member of a variety of groups and networks concerned with schools outreach/student recruitment and public engagement activity. You will need excellent organisational, IT and communication skills and have experience of delivering presentations. What does the role entail? As an Educational Engagement Officer for Arts and Social Sciences your main duties will include: Coordinating and supporting the delivery of subject-specific outreach events for schools and colleges; Developing and delivering subject-focussed presentations and workshops for schools and colleges; Working collaboratively to design and produce resources and publicity materials for events, including maintaining the website and social media platforms; Liaising with and supporting internal project coordinators including those representing the Excellence Hub and Reach for Excellence; Providing appropriate administrative support to the relevant subject-specific outreach teams; Recording and tracking participants throughout their respective programmes, utilising the relevant information management systems; Processing participant monitoring and evaluation data where appropriate to inform reporting;

3 Producing reports on schools outreach and recruitment activity using information management systems and evaluation tools; Assisting in the evaluation of our outreach programmes, including running focus groups, creating student case studies, and conducting interviews and written evaluation, ensuring we adhere to the widening participation monitoring requirements; Supporting student-led programmes such as Leeds Loves and Education Outreach Fellows in the relevant subject outreach teams; Making recommendations to the Service, providing feedback and monitoring processes, and making improvements to office systems as required. These duties provide a framework for the role and should not be regarded as a definitive list. Other reasonable duties may be required consistent with the grade of the post. What will you bring to the role? As an Educational Engagement Officer for Arts and Social Sciences you will have: Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to contribute to the planning of events; Experience of working with school students in years 7 to 13 from a wide variety of backgrounds; Experience of delivering effective presentations, including the ability to convey complex information to a non-specialist audience; Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences both face to face and using different types of media; Excellent IT skills including database management and use of Microsoft Office; The ability to work independently and as part of a team; A proactive and motivated attitude with an ability to meet targets and deadlines in a fast-moving environment; The willingness to learn and take responsibility for own professional and personal development; The willingness to work hours in accordance with the reasonable demands of the post, including occasional evening and weekend work.
