3 Student Manager (2 positions available*) Job Description Basic Function As a member of the leadership team for the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), the Student Managers play a crucial role in the development of CIE s relationships and establishing organizational goals for the team. They should be able to look at the big picture as well as inspire others. The Student Managers will work with the CIE Faculty Director to effectively divide up responsibilities between them (including but not limited to those listed below). Together, the Student Managers are responsible for developing and maintaining external relationships, internal research, programming, and creating new CIE initiatives. They will work closely with fellow leadership team members, the Faculty Director, Program Coordinator, students, faculty and staff, alumni, and other members of the CIE network. *These positions are endowed positions from a gift of the Montgomery Family. Description of Duties and Responsibilities Planning/Vision Contribute to idea generation to improve all of CIE s entrepreneurial activities Work with faculty director on branding and strategic planning Outreach Communicate and meet with visiting alumni Oversee networking events and outreach to relevant constituents Serve as a student liaison for CMC Development and Public Affairs office, CIE Fellows program, research program, internship program (e.g. participate in interviews and generating campus wide information/publicity) Oversight of student team recruitment and engagement Serve as a liaison for 7C student entrepreneurship groups and participants Represent CIE at events Managerial Attend all CIE event, CIE administrative meetings and CIE Advisory Board meetings Provide oversight and meet regularly with Heads of Special Initiatives, Venture Development, and Events & Marketing Provide website and social media presence oversight and ensure weekly updates Day-to Day/Programming Work with Head of Venture Development on the mentoring program Provide timely updates and news items for CMC s PR office Develop materials for the Mentoring, Resources, and Education parts of website Research and post student internships and job opportunities related to new ventures Create and manage educational resources and programming (e.g. workshops, online resources, mentoring, contacts, etc.) Responsible for communications with leadership team, faculty director, and program coordinator Special projects as needed Hold regular office hours

Priority for this position will be given to current CIE leadership team members Other Time Commitment: The hours for this position may vary week to week according to the needs of the CIE, however it is expected about 10 hours a week for 15 weeks per semester. Team members are expected to attend CIE events, which are often on weekday afternoons and Fridays. In addition to event attendance, team members must hold individual weekly office hours at a time convenient to them as well as mandatory leadership team office hours. Pay: $10/hr Reports to: Faculty Director of CIE; coordination of office hours and other duties should be arranged with the CIE Program Coordinator. 5 Head of Venture Development Job Description Basic Function As a member of the leadership team for the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), the Head of Venture Development plays a crucial role in identifying, developing and maintaining relationships with, and supporting student entrepreneurs and student start-ups throughout the Claremont Colleges community. Description of Duties and Responsibilities Identify & manage relationships with student entrepreneurs and student start-ups at the Claremont Colleges Evaluate the needs of and consult student entrepreneurs and student start-ups at the Claremont Colleges Develop and manage resources to help student entrepreneurs and student ventures at the Claremont Colleges Connect and facilitate relationships between student entrepreneurs / student start-ups and professionals in the CIE network Communicate with Student Managers about professionals to connect with students Recruit a team of students to develop specific knowledge about how start-ups function and what makes a viable business concept, as well as be able to assist the Director of Venture Development in consulting student entrepreneurs and student start-ups Manage and execute pitch events with the Advisory Board members Serve as student liaison with the Innovative Startup Award (ISA), marketing the competition to student ventures Attend weekly CIE Leadership Team meetings and office hours Hold weekly office hours Represent CIE at all CIE-led events Attend all CIE events, CIE administrative meetings, and CIE Advisory Board meetings Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to the position. Qualifications and Required Skills A self-starting, entrepreneurship enthusiast who is able to creatively problem solve Specific knowledge about how start-ups function and what makes a viable business concept Experience with a start-up is not required, but is preferable Ability to lead, inspire and coordinate work with others as a team Highly organized with the ability to prioritize work Ability to work independently and on a team Superb time management ability Ability to create and maintain working relationships throughout the Claremont Colleges community

7 Head of Community Engagement Job Description Basic Function As a member of the leadership team for the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), the Head of Community Engagement plays a crucial role in fostering, building, and maintaining relationships with students and faculty throughout the Claremont Colleges who are passionate about entrepreneurship. The Head of Community Engagement represents the CIE and its mission to connect community members in meaningful ways that promote our core values. He or she will also oversee a team of people who will help further this mission of community engagement, including roles such as outreach, social media, event planning, and graphic design. Description of Duties and Responsibilities Oversee member engagement throughout Claremont Colleges Schedule, organize, and coordinate community-based programs and other engagement initiatives Identify, initiate, and deepen relationships with students across the Claremont Colleges Develop long-term community engagement strategies Create communication and feedback system for students to help improve the CIE Oversee marketing of CIE events, workshops, and other events via social media and other forms of communication Create weekly newsletter to communicate events and programs with the Claremont College community Work collaboratively with other CIE staff to effectively use resources across the Claremont Colleges Hire and supervise a team of students with marketing/event specific roles such as graphic design, social media, and event planning Construct and implement plans that encourage members to try new programs and become involved in the CIE community as a committed member rather than just a casual participant Provide support to student ventures who want to hold a CIE partnered/sponsored event Work with CIE s Program Coordinator to develop list for distribution of materials Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to the position Attend all CIE administrative meetings and CIE advisory Board meetings Hold regular office hours Other duties as assigned Qualifications and Required Skills

9 Head of Special Initiatives Job Description Basic Function As a member of the leadership team for the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), the Head of Special Initiatives position will vary from year to year but will work on special projects as defined and directed by the Faculty Director and Student Managers. Due to the scope of the projects, the Head of Special Initiatives should be able to look at the big picture and be able to work quickly and effectively when decisive action is needed.
