2 Contextual Admissions Assistant Educational Engagement, Student Education Service Can you provide proactive, professional and flexible administrative support across a busy team? Are you organised and able to manage your own time? Are you looking for a challenge which enables you to work across a range of activities and with a variety of people? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Contextual Admissions team where you will play an active role in the co-ordination and efficient delivery of the Access to Leeds and Realising Opportunities schemes. You will also lead the day to day operation of the Financial Literacy and Employability programme which facilitates the delivery (by University of Leeds students) of financial and employability skills workshops to local post 16 students. You will provide high level administrative support to the team and will be responsible for the administrative co-ordination of two large academic modules. You will have excellent organisational skills as you will be required to play a key role in organising a busy operation, including the organisation of events and supervising staff. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and must be able to communicate effectively with a range of individuals including a younger audience. What does the role entail? As a Contextual Admissions Co-ordinator your main duties will include: Providing high level administrative support for the Access to Leeds (A2L) and Realising Opportunities (RO) schemes and the Financial Literacy and Employability Project (FLE); Supporting the A2L Officer with the supervision of team assistants including, monitoring and co-ordinating workloads, providing guidance and assistance, leading team and one to one meetings and providing feedback and training where required; Reviewing and developing effective office systems and processes; Planning and organising a range of events and activities both on and off campus including ensuring promotional material is up to date, booking venues and catering, delivering briefing sessions and ensuring effective evaluation and analysis of activity;

3 Co-ordinating the recruitment and training of Ambassadors, RO mentors, and student hosts; Acting as a point of contact for enquiries from students and schools dealing with queries in a professional manner; Co-ordinating admissions processes including processing applications, accessing databases, producing and distributing student application and admissions data across the University, assisting with data reporting and liaising with admissions team across the University; Co-ordinating large scale mail outs to schools and colleges nationwide, produce reports, letters, memos and other correspondence when needed; Developing contacts and building effective working relationships across the University and with partner universities, students and schools to ensure the effective co-ordination of information and activity including the recruitment of partner students for the RO scheme; Representing the University at Programme Development meetings held with partner universities; Co-ordinating delivery of A2L communications plan and contributing to the ongoing development of A2L conversion activity; Co-ordinating the implementation of the RO Academic Assignment and two large academic modules, including assisting with the recruitment of tutors where needed; Recruiting schools to participate in the FLE project and monitor the project to ensure it offers skills development to student ambassadors; Co-ordinating the development and delivery of the financial awareness and literacy programme, including employability skills. These duties provide a framework for the role and should not be regarded as a definitive list. Other reasonable duties may be required consistent with the grade of the post. What will you bring to the role? As a Contextual Admissions Co-ordinator you will have: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information to a wide range of individuals including a younger audience;

4 A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Microsoft Access and experience of working with and building databases; Excellent team working skills with the ability to support and provide information and guidance to others; Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects, using initiative to prioritise and meet tight deadlines; Experience of organising events and co-ordinating employees on events; Ability and experience of improving administrative processes and the ability to identify opportunities to improve student experience; Willingness and ability to work flexibly, including occasional weekends and evenings; Experience of working with secondary schools and colleges. You may also have: Experience of working with young people; Experience of working on university outreach programmes; Experience in the supervision and line management of staff; Knowledge of University admissions; Experience of co-ordinating academic modules.
