We open the CEO Retreat by looking at how companies can create competitive advantage in an environment of constant change. What leadership capabilities are required to succeed in a world in which business models are rapidly transforming due to the emergence of new technology? 10:30 Executive Interview For this interview, we are joined by a notable CEO or Chair of a major multinational, who will talk about leadership issues relevant to them and illustrate with their own experiences. 11:45 Break 12:00 Peer to Peer Meetings 13:00 Lunch 14:00 Panel Discussion: The High Performing Executive Team Leadership in high performing organisations is founded on trust, shared values, superb communication and clarity of purpose. 5 Speakers Alan Armitage CEO, Asia and Emerging Markets Standard Life Alan is CEO of Asia and Emerging Markets at Standard Life. He has responsibility for the bank s wholly-owned operations in Hong Kong and for driving the wider strategy in China, as well as developing the business interests throughout the region. Appointed Acting General Manager for Heng An Standard Life in China in 2005, and CEO of the region shortly after that, Alan has led the company throughout this period of expansion in a variety of leadership positions. For the last ten years, Asia and the emerging markets have been a key focus for Standard Life s growth. It has invested significant resources into the area, and is committed to building a leading retail savings and investment business across the region. Alan has been with Standard Life throughout his career. Before being posted to China, he led a strategic review of the bank s Canadian operations, and also spearheaded the repositioning and transformation of the UK Life and Pensions Company in preparation for demutualisation and IPO. Ann Coughlan Director, Customer Propositions AIA Group Hong Kong Ann was appointed Director of Customer Propositions at AIA in July Focused solely on Asia Pacific, AIA is the largest independent publicly listed pan-asian life insurance company, operating in 18 markets from New Zealand to China. In this newly created role, Ann has responsibility for improving the customer experience along all products and markets. Before joining AIA, Ann spent nine years as Managing Director at Bupa Asia, heading up the company s growth in the region by delivering excellent customer service infrastructures and building healthcare partnerships with its customers. Ann has more than 26 years of experience in the global healthcare industry. Before moving to Asia, Ann was a senior figure in Bupa Ireland. She has gained multilateral experience in sales and operations management, human resources and training, customer service and relationship management. As a leader, Ann is passionate about people and values the importance of building a positive team culture to generate growth and profitability. Asia Leadership Retreat

6 Speakers David Comeau Criticaleye Board Mentor David Comeau is former President of Mondelez International. Currently heading up DC50, a new consultancy aimed at advising start-up FMCGs, David has extensive experience leading teams internationally. As President of Mondelez Asia Pacific, David held responsibility for all biscuit food operations in the region with a $1.5 billion portfolio and significant in-market organisations in both India and China. David was instrumental in transforming the region for countryto-category structure while driving eight per cent growth. In India, his team accelerated growth by leveraging strong local heritage brands, and in China they built out consumer propositions in indulgent and health & wellness products. He led a redesign of the organisation, and achieved over $25 million in cost savings. As a member of Mondelez Global Leadership Council and Global Biscuit Team, David has been closely involved in the strategies for iconic brands such as Oreo, Chips Ahoy!, Belvita, Ritz, and others. Before taking on his recent role in Asia, David was Vice President of Biscuits in Latin America for Mondelez, where he led a $1 billion cross-functional region category team to in excess of 20 per cent sales growth, and developed and executed new consumer communications strategy for the Belvita and Oreo brands. Other roles includes establishing the first ever global biscuit category strategy on a $10 billion portfolio, and leading global assessment of high potential growth platforms based on consumer trends and brand strategic fit.
