Job Description Chief Education Officer The Role The Chief Education Officer (CEdO) will work closely with Chief Executive, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Finance Officer to determine the strategic direction of The Trust. They will contribute to the Strategic Plan, MAT SEF, Operation Plan and Risk Register. The CEdO will lead and manage the academy improvement division ensuring the rapid and sustained improvements of ATT s family of academies to become outstanding and eventually world-class. They will secure structures, systems and processes across each region and across the trust as a whole to enable all academies to deliver a first-class and innovative education that leads to outstanding outcomes. They will be responsible for the delivery of ATT s academy improvement and achievement strategy in order to support the Trust s vision to become a leading edge MAT in the country. The CEdO will embed a shared culture of Outstanding to ensure all academies are on track to become Outstanding and world/class. They will represent the academy improvement and governance division on the Executive Board and when requested, at Trustee Board meetings. They will work closely with other divisions such as HR, Estates, Finance, Communications and Operations. The CEdO will act as a lead champion for academy improvement nationwide, strengthening the profile of Academy Transformation Trust nationally as well as nurturing key strategic partnerships. The overall purpose of the role is to oversee the provision giving high level direction and expertise to the academy improvement team to enable them to secure rapid and sustained improvements locally and nationally. In addition, the CEdO will support the promotion of new ATT academies and will work closely with ATT s senior team and projects team to oversee their successful development. Job Description Key Responsibilities: > Member of the Executive Board to determine the strategic direction of The Trust > Attendee at the Standards Committee reporting on the standards and progress for academies and in particular those that cause concern > Attendee of the Audit Committee as appropriate > Direct line management of the academy improvement team to ensure academies across all regions make rapid and sustainable improvements towards Outstanding and world-class > Set and develop the strategic vision, values and ethos across The Trust for the academy improvement division ensuring ATT is at the cutting edge of education reform > Leadership of the Academy Improvement and Achievement Strategy, updating it annually > Overall responsibility for reporting to the CEO, the Executive and Trust Board on nationwide improvement initiatives, performance of each academy and as a whole > Formal oversight of the categorisation process of all academies and the Improvement Boards (Progress Boards, RI to Good and Good to Outstanding) > Close monitoring of academies that cause concern as outlined in the Academy Improvement Strategy and reporting progress to the Audit Committee, Standards Committee and Executive Board > Clear alignment and application of the Academy Improvement Strategy across The Trust > Monitoring of Trust-wide priorities eg. curriculum, pupil premium, safeguarding, teaching and learning, behaviour and attendance, PSHE. Ensuring systems and processes are clear, frequently evaluated and have the desired impact > Development of an effective system leadership strategy > Working with the Chief Operating Officer to develop an ATT Recruitment and Retention Strategy > Support for academies to become Teaching Schools/SCITTs > Establish a shared culture across all ATT academies that enables everyone to work collaboratively, share best practice, celebrate success and understand their role in supporting ATT to become a high-performing MAT > Ensure that all ATT academies make rapid and sustained improvements. Drive up aspirations and standards to become Outstanding and World-Class > Work with Regional Directors to ensure academies in each region are well prepared for all Ofsted inspections and monitoring visits. In conjunction with the improvement team, ensure improvement strategies for each phase are mapped out, actioned and followed up > Develop and implement a range of strategies for effective transition between primary and secondary academies in order to drive pupil numbers across our academies 5 Improving Education Together.

Job Description > Oversight of ATT CPD Programme > Overall responsibility for Trust level performance information across all phases including Further Education > Overall responsibility for securing a strong evidence base to substantiate the overall effectiveness of academy improvement division within The Trust using Sharepoint > Overall responsibility for annual reporting to The Board on the overall effectiveness of academy improvement > Monitor the quality of guidance given by the academy improvement team in terms of pastoral care ensuring all safeguarding, child protection policies and procedures are understood, adhered to and best practice > Line management of academy governance ensuring the scheme of delegation is consistently applied and policies are compliant > Quality assurance of Academy Overall Evaluation and Effectiveness documents (SEFs), Academy Transformational Improvement Plans (TIPs) and Notes of Visits to ensure they are consistently high quality and leading to rapid improvements. > Quality assurance of the academy improvement team in their monitoring and evaluation of the quality of assessment, teaching and learning and the progress/attainment of pupils across each academy and geographical cluster > Performance management of Principals and the academy improvement team to ensure targets support outstanding/world-class > Challenge underperformance at all levels and ensure effective corrective action, support and review > Establish creative, responsive and effective approaches to teaching and learning; ensuring high quality teaching is at the heart of strategic planning and resource management > Monitor the impact of the academy improvement division in ensuring all community and media communications are consistent in message and well-targeted > Work in partnership with the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Finance Officer to ensure robust operational systems are in place that support the academy s efficient functioning including the oversight of academy finance, facilities and resources across the academy.
