3 Overview Capita goods sector is considered as a strategic sector and deveopment of domestic capabiities is essentia from a nationa sef-reiance and security perspective and is extremey crucia for the deveopment of the country's economy. Capita Goods sector has a mutipier effect and has bearing on the growth of the user industries as it provides critica input. The sector contributes about 12% to the tota manufacturing activity. The Nationa Ski Poicy reeased by GOI in 2009 has an objective to expand on outreach, equity and access of education and training. This woud require quaity interventions for the deveopment of skied and straightforwardy empoyabe workforce across the vaue chain. Capita Goods Ski Counci The Capita Goods Ski Counci is a unique initiative to pay proactive roe and bridge the gap by creating a vibrant eco-system for quaity training and ski deveopment for the Capita Goods sector.

4 Capita Goods Ski Counci (CGSC) is a Not-for-Profit Organization, registered under the Societies Registration Act, The Counci has been promoted by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Department of Heavy industries, Government of India, with financia support by Nationa Ski Deveopment Corporation (NSDC). The supporting organizations incude eading industry members representing both pubic and private sector. The purpose of estabishing CGSC is to ensure that the Capita Goods industry is abe to grow with skied manpower, increase productivity and profitabiity. CGSC is expected to create a dynamic LMIS to keep track of the abour market ski gaps, frame Occupationa Standards, faciitate d e v e o p m e n t o f p r a c t i c a a n d h i g h quaity training content, e n s u r e a d e q u a t e 0 avaiabiity of facuty t h r o u g h Tr a i n T h e Trainer initiatives, buid a c c r e d i t a t i o n a n d c e r t i f i c a t i o n Certified Trainees Year1 Year2 Year3 Year8 Year11 Trainees mechanisms and encourage capacity buiding through private sector participation. The key objective of the CGSC is to create a robust and vibrant eco-system for quaity education and ski deveopment in the Capita Goods Sector in the country.

5 The mandate for the CGSC is: Carry out a Functiona and Occupationa Mapping and deveop a Cataogue of Industry Occupations / Job Roes in the Capita Goods Sector. Deveop & Set Nationa Occupationa Standards for seect Job Roes in the Sector. Deveop & Put in pace an Assessment & Certification mechanism for the Trainers, Assessors and Trainees. Deveop and put out an Affiiation / Accreditation system for Training Institutes to deiver competency based training as per content and curricuum deveoped based on the NOS. Nomine-Academia Nationa Occupationa Standards Nationa Occupationa Standards (NOS) specify the standard of performance an individua must achieve when carrying out a function in the workpace, together with the knowedge and understanding they need to meet that standard consistenty. Essentiay NOS are benchmarks of good practice. Each NOS defines one key function in a job roe. CGSC has on a Fast Track mode deveoped Quaification Packs and Nationa Occupationa Standards for four job roes namey, Weder, Machinist, Fitter and Too and Die Maker. These four documents are avaiabe for pubic viewing and suggestions on our website

7 Membership CGSC works cosey with Industry Partners from Capita Goods sector to coectivey faciitate the quaity education and training eco-system in the country. CGSC intends to serve as reference point for ski deveopment in the Capita Goods sector.
