When curate Nicky Gumbel took over the running of Alpha at HTB in 1990, he noticed its appeal to those who would not describe themselves as Christians. Alpha became increasingly popular and, after the first training conference for church leaders in 1993, began running in other churches in the UK and around the world. Alpha International is a charity that publishes and promotes Alpha worldwide. Today it oversees not only Alpha, but also a range of associated ministries including Relationship Central; Worship Central and the William Wilberforce Trust. Over 25 million people around the world have now done Alpha. It currently runs in 169 countries and in 112 languages. JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE The Communications Manager will develop, deliver, and manage an innovative and cutting-edge marketing and communications strategy for Alpha Australia, overseeing all operations including content development, web, social media, print, brand management, promotional and fundraising campaigns that will further the organisational objectives and goals of Alpha Australia. This hands-on executive level role will provide expert strategic advice, recommendations, solutions and report on key marketing and communications metrics and initiatives to the National Director and Executive Team as well as manage other key external stakeholder relationships. 2 KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND OUTCOMES Subject to direction from the National Ministry Director: Key Result Areas 1 Organisational Accountabilities Operate as a member of the team and contribute to a positive workplace culture across the organisation. Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders in support of Alpha Australia's Mission and Vision and comply with Commonwealth and State Legislation. 2 Communications Develop, implement, and evaluate an effective communication strategy within Alpha Australia licencing guidelines that creates clear and consistent messaging across all communication platforms. Coordinate and oversee the full life cycle of storytelling - including but not limited to acquiring, scheduling, developing content for, filming, editing, and producing stories that bring the Australian Alpha experience to life. Create a communications and marketing calendar for Alpha Australia Develop campaign briefs that clearly articulate project and campaign objectives to the executive team. Develop and manage a wide range innovative and engaging communication tools and materials including web and social media content, brochures, campaigns, videos and advertising and promotional material Produce monthly enews communications Coordinate advertising and promotional activities including print, radio, TV and online with relevant media outlets Attend events, conferences and other promotional opportunities as directed 3. Marketing Design and drive the development of best practice current and new marketing strategies that will build website and social media traffic, brand awareness, and ensure an effective community engagement approach. Develop the research and evaluation framework for Alpha Australia programs, fundraising and other activities including identifying and assessing critical stakeholder and community engagement strategies, gaps and opportunities and provide advice, recommendations, and solutions to increase community engagement. 4. Website and Social Media Management Oversee the design of social media and web platforms (i.e.: Facebook Timeline cover, profile pic, thumbnails, ads, landing pages, Twitter profile, and website).
3 Manage schedules and work with internal and external teams and resources to achieve excellent content / story delivery according to deadlines Create, curate, and maintain editorial oversight of all digital content (images, video and written) across web, and social media platforms and ensure currency. Advocate digital campaign, website, and social media bestpractises Design, create and manage specific digital promotional campaigns Respond to online posts, queries and comments where appropriate to do so Evaluate and report on web and social media analytics and audience engagement to executive team including but not limited to Facebook analytics and Google AdWords experience 5. Stakeholder and Team Management Provide expert advice to the Executive team on marketing and communications strategies that will increase brand awareness and uptake Support the Executive team in developing and managing strategic partnerships and relationships and boarder community engagement Build and manage Media, Marketing and Communications team members as required volunteer and staff Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as fundraising and other agencies, contractors, and suppliers in relation to marketing and communication initiatives 6. Budget Manage the communications and marketing budget efficiently and ensure all activities fall within budget parameters. 7. Reporting / Meetings / Retreats Identify, analyse, and report on data related to the performance of projects, campaigns, and activities Oversee maintenance of marketing and communications databases and provide monthly Salesforce reports Attend meetings and staff retreats as required 8. Other Any other duties as directed by the Executive Team commensurate with the scope of this position
4 PERSON SPECIFICATION Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience Qualifications in Marketing / Communications / PR or similar Minimum of 5 years experience in marketing / communications Knowledge, experience and understanding of social media platforms, their respective participants and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios Strong experience in digital marketing / social media management, SEO & SMO, and analytics including advanced Facebook analytics and Google analytics Demonstrated experience intaking the lead in developing and implementing strategic marketing plans resulting in increased traffic and engagement Ability to source and manage content development High level communication skills including excellent writing and language skills - ideally to perform interviews and write stories for publishing on Alpha s website Excellent organisational and project management skills, able to manage multiple priorities and projects Creative development experience including graphic design and knowledge of Adobe software Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, or Final Cut Pro Proficiency with Microsoft office suite and google drive Current drivers licence Desirable Qualifications. Skills and Experience Fundraising experience salesforce experience HTML/CSS experience WordPress experience facilitating the suite of Alpha and Relationship Courses Personal Attributes Essential Ability to be both creative and think strategically Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and proactive hands-on approach Commitment to the values and mission of Alpha Australia including a desire to reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to all levels of the organisation High attention to detail and commitment to high quality outcomes Analytical and problem-solving skills A team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other employees when necessary. (i.e.: content development,

Well-developed organisational and time management skills along with the ability to be flexible and respond quickly to changing priorities The ability to relate to and respect people from a variety of churches and faiths. Staff responsibilities may at times be varied by Alpha Australia in order to allow response to operational needs or requirements.
