The Food and Cafe Coordinator will assist in the efficient running of our new coffee shop and kitchen outlet. The ideal candidate will be friendly, outgoing and present excellent levels of customer service at all times, portraying a positive image of Goldsmiths SU. Interviews It is worth noting that: Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete an unseen in-tray design exercise. Panel members keep a record of their assessment of each candidate so the reasons for their decisions are clear, consistent and justifiable. You should therefore expect the Panel to be taking notes. 4 Job Description Role: Food & Cafe Coordinator Responsible For: Cooking Food, Supervising Team, Placing Orders Responsible To: Food & Cafe Manager Rate of Pay: p/h, inclusive of 12.07% holiday pay Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with half an hour break, term time only, usually 8.30am pm Monday - Friday. Location: Goldsmiths Students Union, New Cross, London Last Updated November 2017 Job Purpose To assist in the efficient running of the Students Union Coffee Shop & Kitchen outlet by, 1. Dispensing drinks and selling other products 2. Cooking and preparing food 3. Promoting the business whilst maintaining great customer service 4. Supervising team of staff in absence of Manager Main Duties and Responsibilities To prepare and serve hot meals from our food menu to a consistent and high standard, serve from the till and prepare hot drinks To place food orders and keep stock levels to an appropriate level and keep waste to a minimum To provide excellent customer service at all times regardless of levels of trade, time of day or other factors. To prepare the coffee shop area/kitchen and equipment for service and maintain standards throughout all hours of service. To maintain food hygiene standards at all times and in accordance with training and procedures provided. To maintain standards of cleanliness and hygiene for all working and customer areas including emptying waste and the collecting of empty crockery and consumables such as paper cups etc. To run the cafe kitchen on a daily basis and work alongside and supervise members of Student Staff To provide leadership, direction and coaching for Student Staff To promote a positive working attitude in the Students Union Cafe and lead by example in all aspects of the role To work in direction of the Food & Cafe Manager and ensure high standards are maintained in regards to environmental health and hygiene standards, including the recording of food and equipment temperatures and completing the Food Record Safety Book To ensure that all cafe regulations and procedures are fully adhered to, including checking of deliveries, stock control etc

5 To use good housekeeping skills from yourself and the Student Staff to ensure the Cafe is always fit for purpose Secondary and Other Duties To maintain accurate timekeeping and communications. You will be responsible for familiarising yourself with daily shift requirements, displayed on weekly rotas, and will be expected to report for work on time. To maintain customer awareness at all times and relay any problems to a senior member of staff. Standards The post holder will, at all times both professionally and personally, portray a positive image of Goldsmiths SU. The post holder will at all times uphold the values of Goldsmiths SU and thereby demonstrate high standards of integrity, accountability, respect for others, courtesy and professionalism. The post holder will be expected to be flexible and willing to support colleagues, both in their own team and in Goldsmiths SU more widely. They will be expected to undertake any task which helps Goldsmiths SU. Any other tasks that would be deemed suitable within this role as directed by line manager.

6 Job Specification CRITERIA Application Interview EXPERIENCE Experience of delivering exceptional customer service, individually and through effective staff management Experience of the effective use of IT, especially EPoS systems Experience of working in a student led environment Experience of working in a high volume coffee shop and kitchen QUALIFICATIONS Appropriate Supervisory Qualification Appropriate Health & Safety Qualification First aid certificate KNOWLEDGE A good understanding of commercial trends within the catering and hospitality industry A good knowledge of Health & Safety, Licensing and COSSH legislation A good understanding of best practice in stock and cash security systems ATTRIBUTES, VALUES & SKILLS Ability to operate effectively in a busy environment, with the skills to develop productive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders Good communicator with the ability to relate to people at all levels Provides highest standards of customer service and effectively solves customer problems. A confident and resourceful individual with leadership skills who can operate in a challenging environment Evidence of commitment to continuing personal and professional development
