1 JOB DESCRIPTION POST: MANAGED BY: RESPONSIBLE FOR: SALARY: Apprenticeship Adviser Work Based Learning Manager N/A PO2-33,648-36,450 incl. lwa OUTLINE OF POSTS To be responsible for a range of specified apprenticeship sectors serviced by the College, ensuring delivery of recruitment programmes to deliver successful apprenticeships, carrying out timely reviews and monitoring performance of learners through their placements to ensure satisfactory completion of these. To ensure targets for recruitment and timely success of apprentices are met. 1. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES a) To ensure up to date knowledge of current specifications for Apprenticeship frameworks is maintained and be able to fully explain and respond to queries on apprenticeships to a range of audiences including: employers, apprentices and colleagues. b) To liaise with and work with curriculum experts to create and develop new and existing apprenticeship opportunities with employers. c) To be responsible for organising and managing apprenticeship recruitment and selection, assessment and induction of apprentices within identified sectors. d) To take responsibility for and be the first point of contact for apprenticeship enquiries from the apprenticeship co-ordinator. e) To lead on statutory reviews, six weekly review, tracking and monitoring, quality and successful outcomes in the defined sectors. f) To be proactive in the recruitment and induction of apprentices by
2 providing information and support throughout the recruitment process to employers and ensuring that recruitment targets are met. g) To deal with enquiries from employers and applicants in person, via telephone and online applications. h) To work closely with the business development team to ensure appropriate training and development is identified and delivered to generate high quality apprenticeship placements. i) To ensure employers are fully committed and able to provide relevant work, training and supervision in a healthy and safe environment and ensure the completion of all documentation to the required standard prior to commencement of the programme. j) To build effective relationships with all stakeholders and work with, and visit employers with new opportunities to recruit the right apprentice. k) To be responsible for organising and carrying out initial visits with employers. l) To arrange and carry out company health and safety checks to Lambeth College Standards. m) To be responsible for preparing appropriate induction programmes and materials for employers and apprentices. n) To ensure accurate and timely enrolment of apprentices and provide relevant documentation to Information Services and Programme Areas in advance of enrolment. o) To monitor apprentice progress and identify and address any concerns to ensure timely success of all apprentices and placements. p) To provide progress feedback including details of concerns to employers and agree appropriate actions to address concerns. q) To monitor candidate performance and lead on disciplinary action where appropriate in liaison with the employer. r) To be responsible for carrying out work based visits and reviews in a timely manner to ensure apprentices are meeting deadlines and progressing as targeted. s) To ensure timely feedback to employers of progress reviews for apprentices within identified sectors. t) To liaise with colleagues to ensure consistency and clarity in communicating programme requirements to apprentices and their employers.
3 u) To effectively manage a caseload through keeping records and preparing reports for regular work based learning meetings to review progress of apprentices. v) To represent Lambeth College Apprenticeships team at events as required. w) To review and update documentation to improve communication and compliance. x) To prepare and produce documentation for audit and inspection. y) To mentor and lead new team members on pastoral care to support their understanding and effective operation of procedures. z) To support and attend marketing events such as schools and college open days. 2. GENERAL a) To be aware of the principles of safeguarding children and young people as they apply to the role with the College. b) To be involved in College staff development and training schemes and participate in PDR procedures within the Faculty. c) To adhere to the College's Single Equality Scheme with respect to staff and students. d) To comply with and implement the College s Health and Safety policy. e) To undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as may be required. 4 PERSON SPECIFICATION - APPRENTICESHIP ADVISER The College has developed the use of selection criteria, which are included in the Person Specification to aid objective recruitment in line with its Equality and Diversity Policy Statement. Candidates should address these criteria when completing their supporting statement. Education and 1. A Levels or equivalent ie level 3 or 4 qualifications. Qualifications Experience and knowledge 2. Knowledge and understanding of apprenticeship programmes and frameworks. 3. Previous experience of responding to enquiries and contacting employers and external agencies. 4. Previous experience of working for a Work Based learning/training provider. 5. Experience of dealing with problems and resolving issues. Skills and Abilities 6. Knowledge and experience of health and safety. 7. Ability to consistently provide accurate guidance to employers, apprentices and colleagues regarding Apprenticeship programmes offered by Lambeth College. 8. Ability to provide accurate reports and records. 9. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. 10. Effective administrative skills, with good literacy and numeracy skills, and the ability to use Microsoft packages. 11. Ability to effectively organise own workload and prioritise tasks. 12. Ability to solve problems and deal with challenging situations. 13. Ability to form and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, apprentices and employers. 14. Ability to carry out College business in a professional manner at all times and promote the College s good reputation within the community. 15. Ability to listen and provide support and motivation to apprentices to assist them to achieve their apprenticeship framework. 16. Commitment to continually updating personal knowledge and skills to increase effectiveness. 17. An understanding of Equal Opportunities issues. 18.
