For your convenience, a flyer with this information has been provided for distribution at your campus. Separate procedures have been developed and attached for professionals, administrators, support personnel, paraprofessionals, and campusbased classified personnel. Professionals (Teachers, Librarians, and Registered Nurses) The transfer process for teachers, librarians, and registered nurses will be facilitated electronically. In addition to submitting a transfer request electronically to the Human Resources Department, professional employees are expected to submit letters of interest and resumes to principals via or pony as outlined in the procedures on the attached memo. Principals will then be able to review resumes and schedule interviews as their schedule permits. Administrators and Support Personnel Administrators and Support Personnel including District Instructional Coaches, Counselors and Social Workers will submit a request via to Cynthia Solis, Director, Administrative Services, Human Resources Department at CSolis@saisd.net, with a copy to the current principal or supervisor. Counselors and Social Workers will forward the request to Anita Chavera, Director, Guidance and Counseling Department. Administrators and District Instructional Coaches will forward the request to the appropriate Leadership Executive Director or to Rachel Cervantes, Executive Director for Curriculum & Instruction. Paraprofessionals The transfer process for paraprofessionals will be facilitated electronically. Principals may schedule paraprofessionals for interviews at their convenience. Please note that transfer requests are different from requests for promotional consideration. If a paraprofessional is interested in a promotion, then the request must be sent directly and solely to Arnoldo Gutierrez, Administrative Officer, Paraprofessionals and Substitutes, Human Resources Department at AGutierrez3@saisd.net, or call so that he can ensure that all eligibility requirements have been met by the employee for promotional consideration. 1
2 Campus-Based Classified Personnel Campus-based classified personnel must submit a written request for a transfer to Sally Cody, Senior Executive Director of the Food & Child Nutrition Services Department or Rey Almaraz, Director of the Plant Operations Department. Opportunities for interviews will be facilitated through the appropriate department head. Please contact Mark Garza, Administrative Officer, Classified Personnel, Human Resources Department at MGarza5@saisd.net or call , if you have additional questions regarding the transfer process. Excess Personnel All teachers and paraprofessionals, who will be declared excess at their current campus due to a reduction in allocations thereby causing a need for reassignment, will have priority consideration for another campus assignment. Excess teachers and paraprofessionals are encouraged to contact principals for interviews and submit in writing to the Human Resources Department the campus for which they have an interest. Additionally, the Human Resources Department will work with teachers and paraprofessionals that are excess to facilitate campus interviews and placements. Employees who were declared excess for the school year will not be declared excess for the school year unless the employee volunteers to move to another campus. Timelines and Recommendations In an effort to facilitate the process of staffing vacancies, the deadline established for all professionals and paraprofessionals to submit requests for transfers is by the end of the day, (4:30 p.m.) on Thursday, June 7, This process will also allow principals to interview personnel on the transfer list as their schedule permits. Principals are asked to submit the list of teachers and non-teaching professionals who they are recommending for assignment to their campus to Cynthia Solis and a list of paraprofessionals to Arnoldo Gutierrez. Recommendations for campus-based classified personnel must be routed to Sally Cody at SCody1@saisd.net or Rey Almaraz at RAlmaraz@saisd.net. In an effort to facilitate transfers and provide staffing information to principals by Friday, June 15, 2012, recommendations should be submitted by the end of the day (4:30 p.m.) Tuesday, June 12, If principals request personnel from other campuses through the transfer process after Friday, June 15, 2012, then I will discuss the request(s) with the principal that currently supervises the employee prior to honoring the request. With everyone s cooperation, we should be able to implement this process effectively and efficiently. Employees will have the opportunity to interview for transfers based on the procedures outlined in this memorandum. The process for professionals including teachers, librarians and registered nurses, requesting transfers will be facilitated electronically. Instructions for Submitting an Electronic Transfer Request to Human Resources The following steps have been developed to facilitate the transfer process electronically. All professionals should have access to a district computer at least through the campus library. 1. Employees can access the Professional Transfer Request Form as follows: Go to Go to Departments Go to Human Resources Go to Certification & Administrative Services Scroll down to Employee Transfers Click on the Professional Teacher, Librarian, Registered Nurse link 2. Complete the Professional Transfer Request Form on the district web page. A courtesy copy should also be submitted to the employee s principal or department head. Some of you may have already submitted written requests for transfers to the Human Resources Department via or memo. Please re-submit your request electronically, as this will facilitate the processing of your request in our office. Identify the campuses that you are interested in transferring to and contact the school principals via , phone or memo to request an interview. Submit a resumé with your request to the principal. After reviewing resumés, principals will contact employees that they wish to interview. 1
5 Interviews may be conducted on the school campuses through Thursday, June 7, 2012, based on the availability of campus principals or their designees. As vacancies occur throughout the transfer period (May 9 - June 7), transfer requests may be updated electronically for the Human Resources Department by following the same steps listed in #1. Instructions for Accessing the Campus Vacancies link In an effort to provide a listing of the vacancies for on campuses, a Campus Vacancies link has been created. The information is accessible through the Internet following the directions as listed below. The home page will be updated every Friday, beginning May 11, This information will be accessible from May 11 th - June 1 st, via the Internet. After June 1 st, you may contact Cynthia Solis, Director, Administrative Services, Human Resources Department at CSolis@saisd.net or for a current listing as vacancies occur.
