1 EXAMS INVIGILATORS Applications are invited to join the College s team of exam invigilators who will work flexibly on a casual basis according to need. It is hoped that invigilators would work towards the role of Lead Invigilators who could successfully run exam sessions under the guidance of the Examinations Officer. In addition to the tasks required to be undertaken by an exam invigilator, a Lead Invigilator must undertake the following additional duties: communicate all notices/warnings to candidates as required allocate invigilators to tasks within an exam room complete the attendance register be responsible for the smooth running within the exam room ensure all the procedures and regulations within an exam room are followed. There are three levels of invigilation work: Lead, Basic and Corridor. Successful candidates would be expected to undertake Safeguarding training and invigilation training prior to the start of their first exam series. A significant amount of availability is required throughout an exam series to ensure that all sessions are covered over the exam period. There are usually exams held in November over a two week period, some external candidate entries in January, Controlled Assessments, Language/Oral in March/April and May/June for the main exam period. 2 EXAMS INVIGILATOR Terms and Conditions Start Date April 2015 Status Hours of work Pensions Holidays Pay Casual workers to join our team of Exam Invigilators who work flexibly on an ad hoc basis according to need Variable daily start and end times to suit the needs of exams schedules will be provided. A commitment to work 3 days a week during an exam session is required, though the College cannot guarantee this as a minimum. Casual workers are able to opt to join the Local Government Pension Scheme, administered by Worcestershire County Council, by completing an application form. Contributions are banded and further information is available at please click on job vacancies and download the Local Government Pension Scheme guidance. The entitlement to holidays is pro rata to full-time Support Staff and taken during College holidays and paid in addition to the hourly rate. Full year Support Staff receive 25 working days plus 8 public holidays. Invigilators are paid at three rates according to the work undertaken: Lead Invigilators are paid at the rate of 8.55 per hour (point 18 on the support staff salary spine), plus holiday pay at the rate of 14.54%. Basic Invigilators are paid at the rate of 8.23 per hour (point 16 on the support staff salary spine), plus holiday pay at the rate of 14.54% of the hourly rate. Corridor Invigilators are paid at the rate of 7.65 per hour (point 13+ on the support staff salary spine), plus holiday pay at the rate of 14.54% of the hourly rate Child Protection/ Safeguarding Equality and Diversity Disability The College and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young persons and vulnerable adults. 3 JOB DESCRIPTION It must be recognised that this job description is likely to change as the circumstances of the College change and the post holder must recognise and actively adapt to these changes as they affect the job described. JOB TITLE: JOB PURPOSE: Exams Invigilator To supervise examinations and to ensure that guidelines and regulations for the integrity and security of the examination papers and procedures are followed during examination sessions. RESPONSIBLE TO: Examinations Officer MAJOR TASKS 1 To ensure a calm environment to give the candidates the best possible exam experience. 2 To set up the examination rooms as determined by the Exams Office. 3 To be aware of any needs that candidates may have during an examination. 4 To ensure that no inappropriate/not allowed items are brought into an examination room. 5 To ensure that candidates follow the regulations of an examination room as laid out in the examination guidelines and to be vigilant at all times. 6 Ensure all candidates are aware of the pre-exam start information and of any erratum notice that may affect them. 7 To ensure all candidates are seated according to the seating plan provided. 8 To ensure all candidates receive appropriate examination question papers and answer papers. 9 To record attendance on the appropriate attendance register. 10 To ensure that there is no talking or disruption for the candidates once an examination has begun. 11 To ensure answer scripts are collected, sorted into candidate number order and supervised as required, taking them safety to the Exams Office for despatch. 12 To maintain security and confidentiality at all times (signing a confidentiality declaration prior to the start of each exam series). 13 To assist in other activities as may reasonably be requested by the Centre from time to time. 14 To act as a lead or corridor invigilator as required. General Responsibilities 1 To be responsible for and committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young persons and vulnerable adults whether responsible for, or in contact with them.

4 2 To observe the College Health and Safety policy at all times, taking responsibility within own areas as set out in the policy. 3 To comply with all other College policies and procedures. 4 To undertake personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the position and to participate in appropriate training activities. 5 To undertake any other duties commensurate with this post as the Principal may from time to time decide. 02/15

Available to work 3 days a week during an exam series Willing and able to work additional hours where exams overrun during afternoon sessions Commitment to equal opportunities, inclusion and safeguarding Reliable, punctual, honest and trustworthy Diplomatic and friendly manner Desirable Available to work more than 3 days a week during an exam series An interest in supporting young people through their exam experience.
