5 Your Qualifications and Experience Requirements At the heart of every successful Exelsuper Franchise is our mission statement. Sure, everyone has a mission statement, but we live ours every day. When serving the community we understand that potential clients feel uncertain and afraid of their retirement futures and need a trusted source of genuine expertise that s dedicated to making their lives better. As a result, we take an uncompromising approach to assessing the suitability of our Franchise applicants. To be accepted as an Exelsuper franchise you will need to demonstrate the following required attributes, and have, or be prepared to work on the preferred requirements over time. Education & Qualifications Appropriate tertiary qualification (Must achieve SPAA SSA designation within 2 years of becoming an Exelsuper Franchisee. Hold RG 146 qualification before joining Exelsuper. Other Skills Excellent communicator of complex strategies Competent written communication skills Capacity to continually learn & maintain professional development requirements Minimum Experience Business Experience Familiarity with SMSF compliance & SIS Act Working knowledge of SMSF issues and management Ability to build industry relationships, and work with the financial advice community Other Experience Sales experience Relationship Building Experience with BGL SMSF compliance software Personal Skills Communication & people skills Leadership qualities Self motivation Self analysis and assessment Ability to manage and motivate staff. 6 What is your role? As an Exelsuper SMSF Specialist s you will become the truly trusted source of SMSF administration and advice in your area. Your principal role will be to engage with other professionals such as mortgage brokers, accountants, real estate agents, lawyers, and financial advisers to develop working referral relationships for new SMSF clients, plus market your services directly to clients with Exelsuper s proven marketing support tools. This activity, combined with Exelsuper s proven methodology and processes plus our superior SMSF product will generate a stream of opportunities to build your ongoing revenue in two areas: SMSF Specialist Administration Services Preparation and lodgment of SMSF annual returns Complete Records and Book keeping for your SMSF Clients Audit (outsourced to Exelsuper s Audit Team) If you have the skills and qualifications to provided SMSF administration services we will assist you to build your own, highly valuable SMSF Administration service, allowing you to build revenue from both administration and advice. In order to do this you will need to hold the necessary Tertiary qualification and have suitable experience working in public practice. If you are not yet able to meet these criteria, Exelsuper can assist you in becoming qualified. During your training period, referred to as the Foundation Period, you will prepare and lodge annual returns under Exelsuper s tax agency. Alternatively, you may wish to focus just on delivering highly valued and sought after advice solutions to SMSF clients, and outsource your clients SMSF administration to Exelsuper. The unique difference is that you share in the SMSF Administration revenue, just as you share in advice income. SMSF Specialist Advice Services Advice on SMSF establishment and closure, contributions, pension commencement, Limited Recourse Borrowing Arrangements, Bare Trusts Structures, Joint Venture Structures, etc. Investment Advice Insurance Advice Other Technical and Strategic SMSF advice In order to provide these services you will be required to be licensed as a Financial Adviser. In order to do this you will need to be RG146 qualified. If you are not RG146 qualified, Exelsuper can assist you in becoming qualified within 6 months of joining. During this time you will outsource advice components to us

During the foundation period, we provide: A Foundation Period Retainer of $66,000, plus 25% of any revenue you generate from your advice activities. Initial training, development and supervision, Training, support & assistance when preparing annual SMSF returns Management of your client billings. We will bill the clients and forward your revenue monthly so you never need to worry about WIP and Debtors. Advice documentation templates for providing compliant financial advice to clients. SMSF Establishment SOA templates & SMSF establishment documentation including Deeds, Corporate Trustee Docs, Bare Trusts etc. Ongoing Training and Professional Development Sales and marketing assistance and planning BGL Software COIN Financial Planning software Marketing support & marketing documents SMSF Tax and Technical Help Desk Advice compliance training including AML/CTF requirements Complete Exelsuper Franchise procedures manual Exelsuper s first priority is to ensure you develop the necessary qualifications needed to own and operate your own independent Exelsuper SMSF Specialist Adviser Franchise. If you currently hold no qualifications other than RG146 and Tertiary accounting qualification this can take up to 2 years. But, don t be concerned as you will be fully operational during this time operating in an Exelsuper office under our AFSL and Tax Agency, effectively learning while you build your ongoing revenue stream under our supervision and guidance, enabling you to complete your qualifications and experience requirements in your own time. Once complete you will be eligible to operate in your own offices as a fully operational Exelsuper SMSF Specialist Franchise. Even though you have completed the foundation period, you re never alone. Exelsuper provide ongoing support and professional development to ensure you meet your regulatory licensee obligations. We will also assist you in providing ongoing licensee training for all your advisers should you wish to expand by recruiting new members to your team.
