1 General Session 1 Operating as a Global Profession and Organization Naohiro Mouri, CIA Vice Chair Professional Practices

2 Session Objective How to better collaborate, promote greater engagement, and leverage our collective knowledge and resources across the IIA network to produce truly global content for our Certifications, Standards and Guidance, and to expand the inventory of membership products/services.

3 Strategic Plan Goal A. Professionalism: The IIA will lead the profession through the development of timely and relevant knowledge, global guidance, and career path guidelines.

4 STANDARDS AND GUIDANCE

5 Core Principles Demonstrates integrity. Demonstrates competence and due professional care. Is objective and free from undue influence (independent). Aligns with the strategies, objectives, and risks of the organization. Is appropriately positioned and adequately resourced. Demonstrates quality and continuous improvement. Communicates effectively. Provides risk-based assurance. Is insightful, proactive, and future-focused. Promotes organizational improvement.

6 Standards & Guidance Recommendations Enhance collaboration but do not negatively impact timeliness Share in advance the scope, plans and timing of the guidance projects Develop specific and clear guidelines and parameters for all institutes to improve overall IIA brand management globally related to guidance Address different levels of maturity in the profession

7 Related Strategies Leveraging virtual teams of subject matter experts Building relationships between IIA Global and affiliates with guidance / policy staff and committees Developing guidance gap analysis

8 Discussion Questions 1. Based on your knowledge of your members and the industries they serve, should the Standards be aspirational or a minimum required? 2. What feedback do you have related to the Core Principles which are one of the newest components of the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF)? 3. Taking into consideration information you have from stakeholders, are our Standards and flagship exam (CIA) aligned to what stakeholders expect from us as a profession?
