1 JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Foundation Studies Facilitator GRADE: Spot Salary pay point 22 DEPARTMENT: Foundation Studies RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Faculty MAIN PURPOSE OF POST We are looking to recruit a motivated, dynamic and reliable individual in the day-day delivery within the Foundation Studies department. The post holder will work within the team to facilitate the delivery of vocational subjects such as cooking skills, sports/exercise, personal and social development, horticulture, employability and life skills. The post holder will be determined and committed to develop learners with difficulties, disabilities and wide range of other learning needs. The post holder will be expected to develop physical, emotional, social, intellectual and employability skills for each learner. 2 MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To carry out facilitation of learning contributing significantly to the growth of Foundation learning curriculum and providing a diverse range of development opportunities for learners To develop learner experience within a variety of different settings Contribute to the planning and daily routine of the learners Prepare learning resources to use within activities/sessions Build relationships, plan, develop and maintain the employment and work experience activities for all foundation learners Contribute and Facilitate enrichment activities To ensure high standards of physical, emotional social, and intellectual care for all learners To meet and take learners to and from their transport if required To communicate with parent, guardians, college support, local authority agencies, carers etc. Facilitators will work with tutors to deliver a range of vocational subjects such as sport, art, horticulture, performing arts and cooking To liaise with curriculum teams regarding work experience through employment/enterprise. To provide initial advice and guidance on employment, apprenticeship and work experience opportunities to learners and curriculum teams. To book learner appointments with the Career and Progression Tutors To participate in College Open Events, Information, Advice and Guidance Evenings, Progression and Enrolment events. To develop reports as required by your line manager. To perform administrative tasks. This post requires full compliance with Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity and policy and procedures at all times. This description is not exhaustive: it is intended to give an outline of the current duties and responsibilities. PROBATION SUMMARY OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS Your appointment will be subject to satisfactory completion of a nine-month period of probationary service during which you will be expected to establish your suitability for the post. 2. PRE EMPLOYMENT CHECKS References may be taken up before the interview unless you specifically request that an approach should not be made at that time. In such cases, any offer of employment will be conditional upon receipt of satisfactory references and certain positions will be subject to a satisfactory medical screening report. For the successful candidate, proof will be required of qualifications and you will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check. By law, you will also need to provide evidence that you are entitled to work in the UK. 3. LITERACY/NUMERACY It is College policy that staff should hold level 2 (or equivalent) in Maths and English. If you do not hold a level 2 (or equivalent) qualification then you will be assessed using an on-line assessment tool to identify any areas of strengths and areas for development. This will lead to the development of an action plan, which you will be required to follow, which will lead to the achievement of a Level 2 Certificate in Functional Skills Literacy and Functional Skills Numeracy. 4. PENSIONS This post carries an entitlement to contribute towards the Local Government Pension/Teachers Pension Scheme, which includes a death in service entitlement. 5. STAFF DEVELOPMENT The College pursues an active policy of staff training and development. 6.
