1 Montupet is a French-owned aluminium foundry and has long been recognised as an industry leader in the manufacture of complex cast aluminium components for the automotive industry worldwide. We work in partnership with our customers to develop and produce cast and machined parts for a wide range of car manufacturers and Tier-1 suppliers. AUDI, BMW, CITROËN, DAEWOO, FORD, GENERAL MOTORS, NISSAN, PEUGEOT, RENAULT and VOLVO are long-standing customers of Montupet for cylinder heads and other engine parts. The Montupet Group comprises six foundries in France, UK, Spain, Mexico and Bulgaria. We use the most appropriate casting processes depending on the design and specifications of the particular product. We now wish to recruit for: Automation Engineer (AE/14/1) Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for specifying, sourcing, developing and maintaining PLC systems in accordance with machine/ organisational needs while providing back up and support to maintenance electricians and electrical engineers. Applicants must meet the following criteria: 3rd Level Electrical or Electronic Engineering Qualification Experience of providing a maintenance service in a manufacturing setting Experience of writing and modifying PLC programs Experience of designing or modifying HMI screens Experience of engineering problem solving and implementation of solutions Experience of providing electrical technical support to others While not essential the following would be advantageous: Experience of robotics Experience of using electrical drawing packages e.g. Autocad Experience of producing costing s for electrical projects and sourcing appropriate equipment Experience of archiving PLC programs Experience of machine, control & safety modifications Experience of managing projects The Dunmurry plant employs around 600 people, with 65% of our workforce having over 10 years service and 68% of the current management team having been recruited internally. 4 Job Title: Automation Engineer Department: Maintenance Line Manager: Automation Team Leader Responsible For: Not Applicable Date of Issue: September 2014 For substitute see Line Manager Summary of job role: To specify, source, develop and maintain PLC systems in accordance with machine/ organisational needs while providing back up and support to maintenance electricians and electrical engineers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Technical Responsibilities 1. Working with production personnel and project engineers to develop plc software in accordance with machine performance requirements. 2. Provide a maintenance service on PLCs and respond promptly to breakdown situations. Provide backup and support to maintenance electricians. 3. Develop electrical knowledge and expertise (e.g. drives, plc hardware etc.) and provide support and assistance as necessary, fault - finding and trouble shooting on electrical equipment. 4. Liaise with Electrical and Mechanical Project Engineers on the commissioning of electrical equipment. 5. Produce specifications of all PLCs /electrical equipment required for new plant equipment. 6. Produce a detailed costing for electrical projects and source appropriate equipment. 7. Improve the health and safety of machinery by improving operator controls and by adding interacters and fault diagnostics. 8. Work to reduce plant downtime, cycle time and scrap by the continuous improvement of machinery in conjunction with production personnel and plant engineering. 9. Develop department standards, e.g. quality procedures, standard software, documentation etc.
