1 JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Post Number: Department: Location: Grade: Salary: Tenure: Hours: Accountable to: Accountable for: Director of Sport SZ003 Cardiff Met Sport Cyncoed and Llandaff, Cardiff Management Competitive Permanent Full time PVC Cyncoed Campus and Executive Dean of School of Sport & Health Sciences Assistant Director of Sport, Performance Directors, Sport Cardiff Partnership, Support Staff, and Sports Facilities Staff Role Summary This is a key leadership post that will contribute to the ambitions of the University s new Strategic Plan 2017/ /23. The Director of Sport is will lead the strategic development of sport across the University, with responsibility for the University s non-academic sport activities and facilities in the context of enhancing the quality of the student experience, creating an environment to support University sport at all levels and growing the commercial operations of the University sporting facilities. Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1. Lead the strategic development of Cardiff Met Sport across the University in line with the University s strategic plan.

2 2. Manage the University s non-academic sport resources and facilities and lead on the development of high quality sport facilities. 3. Enhance the quality of the student experience through the creation and development of opportunities for all students who wish to participate in sport and physical activity. 4. Direct the University s commitment to high performance sport. 5. Manage the Sport Cardiff Partnership to meet the objectives of the City Council, Sport Wales and the University. 6. Work in partnership with academic schools to maximize the relationship between sport development, teaching and research. 7 Work with Cardiff Met SU in delivery a complementary sporting experience that meets the University s strategic ambitions. 8. Enhance the local, regional, national and international profile of the University through engagement with external communities and organisations. 9. Organize and rationalize operations to ensure value for money and robust budgetary control, enabling the service to operate effectively. 10. Manage and develop Cardiff Met Sport staff to deliver a customer focused experience to all stakeholders. 11. Undertake other duties as may reasonably be requested and that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.
