The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. Primary purpose of the role To coordinate and administrate exhibition production and workshop maintenance to ensure that exhibitions are delivered on time, maintained to the highest standard and meet the Museum s corporate strategic objectives. Key accountabilities Oversight and coordination of museum exhibition production and installation on site and off site with operational accountability for the day-to-day work performance of production teams to ensure quality standards are met; Ensuring that assigned production teams and project reporting staff comply with exhibition contracts, formal inter-organisational agreements and project management roles and responsibilities as guided; Logistical coordination of assigned projects including workshop production, installation and dismantling and transport and handling of exhibitions in accordance with a project brief; Production, delivery and maintenance of specific exhibition projects including input and co-development of designated projects from concept development Coordination across all Branches and Units in the Museum (and where necessary external to the Museum), in producing exhibitions consistent with the exhibition project brief; 1

2 Consult and work with internal and external project contributors in accurately assessing production work estimates, progress and if required, organising work program changes and resolving other unforeseen issues without adversely affecting fixed milestones and deadlines within established project schedules. Key challenges Staying current with technology advances, WH&S standards and international, national and regional NSW legislation in order to schedule staff and work effectively, allow for seamless integration of old and new exhibition components, undertake maintenance and break down support of equipment and components in remote locations; Advising on resources required to build, dismantle, pack, handle and transport an exhibition in a host venue and negotiate with the host venue Remaining highly motivated, effective and creative within the constraints of available resources, and resolving the varied challenges associated with project(s) or program delivery Key relationships Who Internal Why Manager, Exhibitions Provide project status updates and information regarding project variations Coordinator, Design & Exhibition Production, Creative Producers/Project Managers Other Exhibition Production Coordinators Casual Exhibition Production Officers (talent pool) External Seek and receive guidance, direction and feedback regarding work performance; escalate issues and provide regular updates on project delivery issues and priorities. Coordinate and collaborate for the production and delivery of exhibitions Key contracted parties Liaise with regarding the delivery of exhibitions and program spaces at the required time, on budget and to agreed quality standards Role dimensions Decision making The Exhibition Production Coordinator works within the parameters of the project brief set by the Project Manager/Coordinator or Manager, Exhibitions to oversee the completion of nominated projects or services, independently or as part of a team, within the financial and time requirements stated in the production brief or service delivery plan. On a day-to-day basis, the role holder has a reasonable degree of discretionary decision- making in planning and setting priorities for such work. The role holder must be able to assess a more complex range of options relating to multiple projects and sometimes competing priorities and make informed operational decisions in consultation with the Manager, Exhibitions in order to meet non-negotiable project deadlines or milestones Role Description Exhibition Production Coordinator 2

3 Reporting line This role reports to the Coordinator, Design & Exhibition Production and works closely with other Exhibition Production Coordinators. Direct reports Temporary or Casual Exhibition Production Officers (EPOs) Budget/Expenditure As per project designation Essential requirements Sound ability to read and effectively interpret written & technical instructions, such as production briefs, maintenance plans and procedures to effectively interpret concepts and working drawings and related documentation for exhibitions and planning; Full Drivers Licence & Construction White Card.
