1 1 of 5 7/19/17, 2:29 PM JOB CLASS TITLE: Trial Court Administrator POSITION NUMBER: DEPARTMENT: Superior Court DIVISION/SECTION: Superior Court 26 STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA invites applications for the position of: Trial Court Administrator SALARY RANGE: $64, $99, Annually RECRUITMENT RANGE: $64, $99, SALARY GRADE / SALARY GRADE EQUIVALENT: Flat Rated COMPETENCY LEVEL: t Applicable APPOINTMENT TYPE: Permanent Full-Time WORK LOCATION: Mecklenburg County OPENING DATE: 07/19/17 CLOSING DATE: 08/13/17 5:00 PM Eastern Time DESCRIPTION OF WORK: RECRUITMENT RANGE: $64, $99, SALARY GRADE: Flat Rated The Trial Court Administrator (TCA) assists and supports the Senior Resident Superior Court Judge and the Chief District Court Judge in the overall supervision of the 26th Judicial District (Mecklenburg County) and is entrusted with the responsibility of planning, organizing, and directing non-judicial activities. The TCA works with other court officials as a facilitator for change by initiating and coordinating discussions and by identifying problems and recommending solutions that lead to a more efficient and effective court system. The TCA serves as a liaison to state and county departments, the Mecklenburg County Bar Association, and other organizations. Additionally, the TCA makes public appearances and gives presentations to educate the community and elected officials about the work of the court and to advocate on its behalf. General management responsibilities of the TCA include: development of local rules and administrative policies and procedures to facilitate calendaring and other administrative activities, budget development and fiscal administration, personnel oversight, technology and facilities management, research and strategic planning, grant procurement and administration, program development, and project management. In addition to general management responsibilities, the TCA oversees services provided through the following divisions: Caseflow Management, Community Access and Outreach, Family Court, Judicial Support, and Operations. Each division is directed by its own Team Leader who reports directly to the TCA and is responsible for oversight and development of his/her respective division. This position reports to the Senior Resident Superior Court Judge and Chief District Court Judge

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES: Knowledge of: directing the non-judicial activities of the court and demonstrating knowledge of court operations and principles and practices of public and judicial administration. Skills in: proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; case management and calendaring; exceptional writing and editing; public relations; and group presentations. Ability to: communicate effectively orally and in writing; provide executive leadership and to develop and achieve a broad organizational vision through strategic planning; achieve organizational excellence through progressive management; evaluate court performance; and represent the court's interest in a compelling and successful manner. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in judicial administration, public administration, business management, or related field and at least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in public service, business, or the courts demonstrating a thorough understanding of the principles of management, with at least one (1) year of experience in a position with responsibility for managing people and/or programs; a Master's degree in those same fields and at least one (1) year of experience managing people and/or programs; or a law degree and at least one (1) year of experience managing people and/or programs. Management prefers candidates with a Bachelor's degree in judicial administration, public administration, business management, or related field and at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public service, business, or the courts demonstrating a thorough understanding of the principles of management, with at least three (3) years of experience in a position with responsibility for managing people and/or programs; a Master's degree in those same fields and at least three (3) years of experience managing people and/or programs; or a law degree and at least three (3) years of experience managing people and/or programs.
