2 Welcome from the Headteacher Dear Applicant Thank you for considering the post of Deputy Sports Campus Deputy Manager at Failsworth School. I joined the school myself as Headteacher in January 2010 and since that point I can honestly say that I have been warmly welcomed into the Failsworth community by all partners and have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the school. I am always impressed by the quality and commitment of staff and students at Failsworth and I am confident that together we will create a bright future for the school. Making the decision to apply for a new post is always challenging on a number of levels. It is with this in mind, that I hope that we have given you the appropriate level of detail and information that supports you in making your application. If you decide not to apply, please tell me why you have not chosen to apply for this post or what additional information you required. I do hope you find this pack useful and choose to apply for the post. Since my arrival at the school I have undertaken a major reorganisation of teaching and support staff, structures and the school curriculum to ensure that the school structure is better able to deliver high quality teaching and learning opportunities within a sound and economical financial framework. Throughout this process and in fact at all times I am always impressed by the support I receive from all staff who are committed to enhancing opportunities for students at the school. Our October 2014 Ofsted inspection placed our school in Special Measures. I am sure when you read the contextual information on our website and when you visit our school you will find a positive, calm and vibrant community committed to improvement and progress. Whilst we do not agree with this judgement, all our planning and action since that time has been both positive and proactive to remove this label as soon as possible. The response of all staff, students and the whole community since the publication of the report has been superb, with an absolute determination from all to ensure that this situation is corrected in the shortest possible time. If you read our monitoring inspection report from June 2015 you will clearly see the progress we have made. If still unsure come and visit the school and see for yourself!
