1 JOB DESCRIPTION Job title: Project Cycle Manager Location: London, UK Department: Operations Length of contract: 15 months Role type: Global Grade: 10 Travel involved: Reporting to: 40% Global Operations Manager Child safeguarding level: Direct reports: None Organisational background Established in 2003, Malaria Consortium is one of the world s leading non-profit organisations specialising in the comprehensive prevention, control and treatment of malaria and other communicable diseases among vulnerable and under privileged populations. We increasingly find our work on malaria can be effectively integrated with other similar public health interventions for greater impact and therefore expanded our remit to include child health and neglected tropical disease interventions. We work in Africa and Asia with communities, governments, academic institutions, and local and international organisations, to ensure effective delivery of services, which are supported by strong evidence. Our areas of expertise include: disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment disease control and elimination systems strengthening research, monitoring and evaluation leading to best practice behaviour change communication national and international advocacy and policy development Project background Malaria Consortium delivers projects based on the skill and management practices of its staff. Recently, Malaria Consortium utilised this knowledge to define an organisational Project Cycle Management Process that, will be followed by all staff to ensure consistent good project implementation. Job purpose This role will build on the work already completed and collaborate with all stakeholders to refine and finalise Malaria Consortium s Project Cycle Management process. Subsequently design and rollout a capacity building approach to embed the process into Malaria Consortium s ways of working. Scope of work Last updated 12/10/2017 1

2 This role will include collaboration with all departments at all levels, to ensure that the project cycle management process is fit for purpose, pragmatic and based on the reality of project implementation in the different areas where Malaria Consortium operates. The process will be rolled out to managers and staff in 12 countries across Africa and Asia, with creative use of communications methods and tools (including , conference calls, presentations, webinars, etc.), via in-country training and remote support. Key working relationships Collaborate with Malaria Consortium department heads, country management, operations, finance and project staff. Key accountabilities Project Cycle Management process design (25%) Collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to finalise Malaria Consortium s Project Cycle Management process Finalise associated roles and responsibilities matrix (RASCI) that is aligned to the process Finalise process flow charts Design success indicator for an on-going monitoring and acceptance in the organisation Project Cycle Management process rollout and embedding (60%) Develop training and capacity building material (guides, toolkits, presentations) to support effective process rollout Design a rollout plan that is realistic and achievable and maximises the uptake by relevant stakeholders, using a mix of different communications methods (including, conference calls, presentations, webinars, e-learning etc.), via in-country training and remote support. Act as focal point for any queries around the process and its rollout Ensure that learnings are incorporated into the project cycle management process throughout the project via a change control process. Project Management (15%) Design and manage the project plan and budget, and ensure all milestones are achieved on time and to budget. Provide bi-weekly reports on progress, challenges and coming actions. Ensure all project files are uploaded onto the Malaria Consortium intranet site and available to all relevant stakeholders. 3 Person specification Qualifications and experience: Essential: Bachelor, Masters-level or University degree, preferably business or IT related; Experienced in project management methodologies (e.g. Prince2) Experience with implementing organisational change projects Experience managing a project in an international context Fluency in written and spoken English Significant experience in working with senior level colleagues Experience of proactively identifying and addressing Desirable: Prince2 or similar project management qualification Fluency in written and spoken French and/or Portuguese. Work-based skills: Essential: Experience of planning, implementing and managing projects, including with strong financial management skills Diplomacy and negotiation skills that demonstrate ability to collaborate and coordinate with a range of stakeholders Strong track record in meeting reporting and project deliverables and deadlines Strong consultancy, analytical and communications skills; Strong team player, with the ability and willingness to manage and work with changing plans and priorities of stakeholders Desirable: Negotiation skill Ability to influence decisions.
