The NGDI Solution Design team administers, manages and supports the change process for the State of Michigan s NGDI in compliance with regulatory guidelines. This position functions as the IT Solution Analyst for IMAC (install, move, add, change) projects for NGDI only. The IT Solution Analyst must be familiar with the portfolio of NGDI services, supported infrastructure, configuration analysis and disaster recovery technologies to ensure that the design characteristics of IT solutions meet or exceed DTMB and SOM standards. This position references NGDI architectural designs to develop NGDI solutions for the internal infrastructure supporting the virtual platform. This position requires extensive knowledge and understanding of internal IT infrastructure operations and Cloud Lifecycle Management, focusing on virtualization, automation and network technologies. This will require the position to work closely with Technical Services Cloud Automation Team for the application of automation solutions to NGDI. Page 1

2 Overtime and/or on-call may be required for this position. Due to the nature of Technical Services support services; division policy utilizes flex scheduling for time worked in excess of 40 hours per week in alignment with Civil Service guidelines. Page 2

3 15. Please describe the assigned duties, percent of time spent performing each duty, and what is done to complete each duty. List the duties from most important to least important. The total percentage of all duties performed must equal 100 percent. Duty 1 General Summary of Duty 1 % of Time 80 This position manages the IMAC process for NGDI requests by analyzing and prioritizing infrastructure requirements in programming sequence. This position plans, coordinates, validates, documents and identifies technical requirements to better understand service requirements for NGDI IT infrastructure requests. This includes preparing IT workflow charts using knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, automation services, programming language and logic. Individual tasks related to the duty. Implement standards-based end to end solution designs leveraging defined processes (IMAC). Implement and support platform configurations in coordination with telecommunications, storage, directory services and security, ensuring the solution is in line with defined standards and policies. Implement and support hardware/software acceptance plans that leverage acquired test data for enterprise systems. Run tests to determine the accuracy of configuration logic to produce desired results. Debug and revise configuration based on test results. Implement and maintain standard hardware/software configurations and specifications for new network hardware, storage hardware or appliances and software configurations as designed. Implement enhancements to existing systems in the environment. Configure, implement, test and maintain server, compliance, storage or backup-related support software systems on the hardware network servers. Analyze and resolve problems to identify network hardware system and operational inefficiencies and failure patterns. Review and/or provide input and maintain a familiarity with network hardware and software proposals based on defined standards. Assist senior level positions as an informational resource in regular Disaster Recovery testing for the assigned area of the organization. Complete implementation tasks for network hardware, software and operating systems being tested. Implement step by step migration and conversion plan activities for server, storage hardware or appliance replacements or upgrades. Analyze data files, file structures, access controls, server configurations, storage and backup requirements. Duty 2 General Summary of Duty 2 % of Time 15 This position participates in audit support projects. Individual tasks related to the duty. Provide support in the preparation of reports and correspondence related to assigned network hardware and software systems following defined policies, standards and procedures. Maintain familiarity with and understand the basic application of FedRAMP, FISMA, HIPAA, IRS, NIST, OAG, OIAG and PCI regulatory guidelines. Understand CIS, CJIS and MCP security regulations. Assist Audit Compliance section in addressing and providing information requested during regulatory audits. In collaboration with Audit Compliance, utilize tools to verify, remediate and audit servers and other hardware/software for regulatory compliance. Page 3

Describe the types of decisions made independently in this position and tell who or what is affected by those decisions. This position operates under the direction of senior level staff. 17. Describe the types of decisions that require the supervisor s review. This position will plan, coordinate, validate, document and provide a comprehensive review of the State of Michigan s virtual infrastructure. This position manages the IMAC process for NGDI requests and other duties as necessary to support the mission of the organization. Determine and implement corrective action to resolve common problems that adversely affect the department s servers. Develop, validate and evaluate function of applications within the network environments to ensure quality. Decisions that are politically sensitive in nature, have a major budget or financial implication and have strategic technical implications require the supervisor s review. 18. What kind of physical effort is used to perform this job? What environmental conditions is this position physically exposed to on the job? Extensive standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, bending, carrying, walking, kneeling and climbing steep ladders. Use of a computer and telephone extensively. The employee is regularly required to lift up to 60 pounds. The employee would primarily be in a temperature-controlled environment when performing their duties. Standard work schedule is 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday unless an alternate work schedule has been approved by management. Overtime and/or on-call may be required for this position. This position performs a wide range of IT Solution Analyst responsibilities to enable the State of Michigan s virtual infrastructure through effective operations and sharing of information and applications. This IT Solution Analyst will develop and collaborate the writing of policies, standards, and procedures to ensure standardization and automation of processes. 6 25. What is the function of the work area and how does this position fit into that function? Technical Services is the primary means for Infrastructure Services to deliver network software and hardware support to its clients. This division also provides a 1 st level support of the State of Michigan s virtual infrastructure. This position supports the functions necessary for the efficient operation of the NGDI environment. 26. What are the minimum education and experience qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of this position? EDUCATION: Possession of a Bachelor's degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics. EXPERIENCE: No specific type or amount is required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Experience and skill in support and administration of Windows Server operating systems. Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work as a team member, ability to be a self-starter. Knowledge of concepts of computer systems. Knowledge of network hardware, software structure and support. Knowledge of Citrix and Microsoft operating systems. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Duties may involve use of personal vehicle. Background Checks: The candidate selected for this position will be required to submit to fingerprinting for state and federal criminal background record checks. The candidate must be felony-free, and must remain so in the future. Any position offer will be conditional until results of the criminal background record checks indicate eligibility for employment. The selected candidate must complete the Michigan State Police background check. This extensive background check requires fingerprinting for state and federal criminal background records. The background check search will include, but is not limited to, arrests, criminal charges, criminal convictions, and any information regarding contact with a criminal justice agency. The selected candidate must complete the Criminal History Background Check Agreement (DTMB-0223) prior to the Michigan State Police background check.
