1 JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Senior client advisor/rural Specialist EMPLOYEE: REPORTS TO: DATED: March 2018 POSITION SUMMARY A critical link between MDP and the client, responsible for: Flow and quality of client work Relationship between the client and MDP Client owner support and backup Key Responsibilities Rural Advisory Services specialist Tasks Assisting to establish and maintain strong relationships in the rural sector, including clients, stock firms, banks, legal advisors, real estate personnel, valuers and farm advisors. Liaising with Rural Services Manager and Marketing Manager for any marketing/networking event and ensuring all rural services team members are diarised. Attending weekly rural team meetings. Promotion of MDP through attendance at rural marketing events including:- o Field days o Dairy awards o Primary sector conference o Attend rural education courses Assist with the preparation and delivery of rural sector staff training, including livestock, drafting of farm accounts and farm management issues, both to boardroom training and on an individual basis. Responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective preparation of the firms farm benchmarking statistics including familiarising yourself with livestock and land values associated with these statistics. KPIs First edition of farm benchmarking statistics published by mid-december each year. Final edition of farm benchmarking statistics published by 31 May in each year. Monthly rural advisory training sessions for all staff as required. No loss of clients due to quality of rural advisory services. 08.docx 1

2 Training of team members to ensure that they are fully trained and competent in the compilation of the firm s farm benchmarking statistics. Maintain specialist knowledge of rural sector software including Cash Manager Rural Online, Xero and Figured. Provide back-up cover for software team for client queries. Advise rural clients on appropriate software choices. Provide support/training to rural services team on rural specific software. Assist rural advisors to advise clients on farm sale and purchase matters, including taxation/gst implications and to liaise with tax team regarding same. Prepare and review budgets/forecasts and applications for finance. Including leading meetings with clients for the input of budgets into client software. Be familiar with bank budget templates. Provide a support role to client managers and partner buddies for any rural-specific business advisory work. Assist with complex rural tax estimates for rural advisors, as required. Any other duties as may reasonably be asked of you. Client relationship management (other) Communicate proactively with clients to really understand their needs. Take control of assigned client engagements. Timely response to client queries and issues. Monitor level of service to ensure it is consistent with the client s expectations. Ensure client owner is kept fully informed of progress with client engagement and any issues that may arise. Acknowledgement of receipt of and phone messages within 24 hours. Completion of provisional tax estimates. Undertaking business advisory assignments as requested. Reviewing team members compliance jobs, ensuring all material queries have been cleared before client owner review. Preparation of financial statements and taxation returns ensuring all material queries are cleared before client owner review. Preparation of 6 monthly minutes. Attendance at client meetings when required. Liaise with client owner to ensure the timely receipt of jobs into the office including completion of B3. Understand the firm s expectations in respect to workflow and job turnaround. Preparation of business advisory invoices for review by client owner. Manage time budgets and turnaround time. Engage the team and clients to achieve objectives. Any other duties as may reasonably be required of you. Identify opportunities for additional services. Sell and deliver additional services. Engage in ongoing professional development. Develop external networks and referral relationships. Communicate expectations and job requirements clearly (scope of work, fees, turnaround time) Communicate effectively with accounting services manager to ensure jobs are allocated and completed in an effective manner. Delegate effectively to team. Feedback on work in progress is given to team. Feedback on quality of work completed is given to team. Encourage team to communicate solutions not problems. Qualifications Experience & Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Preferably at least 2-5years experience in a public practice firm post completion of degree.
