JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES: For this process, the CRA is accepting applications from students to fill positions in the Compliance Programs Branch, Audit Division in the Prince George location for two back to back co-op/student terms for 8 months. The Canada Revenue Agency collects taxes and delivers social and economic benefits on behalf of the federal government to all Canadians. Your duties may include:

3 Examining taxpayers /registrants returns, requests or rebates and books and records, to verify compliance with the statutes administered by the CRA or resolve enquiries. Prepare working papers, letters and reports to support work completed and compile asset information to assist in the collection of taxpayer indebtedness. Plan how audits will be conducted; review documents and research legislation, jurisprudence, publications and policies. Discuss with taxpayers and/or their representatives technical and contentious issues, proposed (re)assessments, and recommendations regarding penalties and consideration of waiving of interest. This is an excellent opportunity for students who are looking to gain valuable work experience in a large federal organization. Source of Candidates (Who can apply): Open to students currently enrolled as a full-time* student in University of Northern British Columbia s Bachelors of Commerce Program with a specialization in Accounting. Preference will be given to Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Please indicate your citizenship status on your application. *Students enrolled in studies on a part-time basis due to a disability that is recognized by their academic institution are also eligible to apply. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their application how they meet the educational requirements. Failure to do so will result in your application being screened out for this selection process. Staffing Requirements Screening for Pre-requisites EDUCATION: Applicants must be enrolled in full time* studies in UNBC s Bachelors of Commerce Program with a specialization in Accounting and returning to studies or be in the final year of their academic study Applicants must have successfully completed Financial Accounting COMM 210, COMM 310 and COMM 311. Please indicate your current program of study including your current academic year and details of any other post-secondary education you may have, such as accounting. Preference at placement may be given to those who have completed specialized courses in accounting. Candidates will be asked to provide proof of their status as a student.

4 EXPERIENCE DISCRETIONARY Experience in dealing with the general public, including volunteer work. Preference may be given to applicants who have experience in preparation of financial statements, accounting records, bookkeeping or preparation of income tax or GST/HST returns. Candidates will be assessed only once for essential assessments common to both staffing processes. Marks attained will be applied to both staffing processes.
