2 The M/T NORTHIA is a sister to the M/T FRONT ODIN, to be delivered in early 2010 SeaTeam Management Pte Ltd to take delivery of M/T FRONT ODIN SeaTeam Management Pte Ltd, a newly established subsidiary of Frontline, is set to take delivery of the Suez Max Tanker M/T FRONT ODIN in late April or early May The M/T FONT ODIN will be one of an expected twenty five (25) vessels the company is expected to take management of in the next two to three years. SeaTeam a Singapore based 100 percent subsidiary of Frontline, is headed by Captain Alasdair Smith, former General Manager South East Asia, for Frontline Management (Bermuda) Ltd. The company was established as a result of an extensive analysis of business needs revealed limited solutions to recent mergers of various third party ship managers employed by Frontline. The result being a less than optimum distribution of vessels which minimized the effect of competitive benchmarking. With performance slipping in several areas, SeaTeam was formed to provide dedicated services for head to head benchmarking with third party management companies. Captain Smith began sourcing industry professionals to staff the company in mid 2009, with senior crewing and health safety environmental & quality personnel employed as early as October The company has placed much emphasis on establishing the employee as a value asset in promoting the Team concept and by developing management systems that reflect both simplicity and thoroughness. The company obtained its Document of Compliance from Det Norske Veritas (DNV) on February 1st SeaTeam has also contracted DNV to certify company systems to the ISO 9001 Quality Standard, ISO Environmental Standard and OHSAS Safety & Health Standards. 3 SeaTeam Establishes India Operations SeaTeam Management Pte Ltd joined the race for hiring Indian marine officers by establishing a crewing office in Chennai. It will be the first in-house entity providing crewing operations for Frontline vessels. Till now operations of all Frontline ships have been outsourced with officers and crew from a number of countries. However since out-sourcing companies were struggling to recruit quality professionals, SeaTeam (India) was established as an exclusive crewing office. SeaTeam Management Pte Ltd, headed by Captain Alasdair Smith and based in Singapore, is a newly established ship management subsidiary of Frontline. Captain G. Ramaswamy, a renowned and well respected figure on the Indian maritime scene, was selected as the CEO of SeaTeam (India) to help recruit seafarers for the SeaTeam managed Fleet. The use of agents, and in particular, the use of crewing agents, tend in some instances, to distance ship-owners from the crew. The crew themselves may lose any sense of identity with the owners interests. SeaTeam s goal is to bridge the gap between the ship owner and crew. SeaTeam will recruit the crew on its roll on a contract basis. It is planned to recruit nearly 400 Indian officers to man an estimated 30 ships. Team Telegraph03

All of the above Safety Tip Conduct Job Hazard Analysis Many injuries occur when crew have not been adequately trained in specific job procedures. This is where a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) can be used to ensure safer and more efficient practices. The JHA (also referred to as a Job Safety Analysis) allows job procedures to be examined through careful breaking down of each task and identifying and controlling associated hazards. The three basics elements of a JHA are: 1. Document the Steps Sequentially; 2. Document the hazards related to each step; and 3. Document a Control for each Hazard. Simple Rules for Leaders There is no one best style to manage the crew on board as each leadership style has strengths and weaknesses. Leaders should find their own unique management and leadership style. Today s leader on board should be coaches, counselors, facilitators and team leaders. Successful styles involve building teams, relationships and motivations. Managers on board are expected to get results through other people with their leadership inputs. The leader has the responsibility to plan, execute & monitor. He is part of the management team and must learn to delegate authority to accomplish the objectives of the company. 8 Captain Iyer and Second Officer Shaffin verifying the voyage plan M/T Dewi Maeswara discharging at the Cilicap SBM M/T DEWI MAESWARA Performs well in initial OCIMF Vetting Inspection Capt Iyer and Superintendent Varrier, under inspection The M/T Dewi Maeswara underwent an SIRE Inspection on behalf BHP Petroleum on the 8th of March 2010 while discharging at the SBM in Cilicap Indonesia. This commercially important inspection was the vessels first since coming under the Technical Management of PT Perusahaan Pelayaran Equinox (Jakarta) on the 10th of February The Senior Officers are provided by Sea Team Management (India) Pvt Ltd, including Captain Swaminath Venkatsubramain Iyer, Chief Engineer Pattada Nanaiah Chengappa, Chief Officer Joseph Abraham Pottamkulam, and Second Engineer Sathiyamoorthy Gothandapani, as well an Indian Second Officer, Third Engineer and Electrical Officer. The balance of Crew are Indonesian nationals provided by PP Equinox. The vessel was jointly attended by Weston Fitzgerald, Senior Manager HSQE for SeaTeam Management Pte Ltd (Singapore) and PP Equinox representative, Captain Manoj Varrier. From the onset of the inspection, it was clear the Senior Officers had prepared the vessel well for the inspection. As the boat came alongside, float vests were lowered for use by embarking personnel. Once onboard a charismatic Chief Officer Joseph met the inspector and checked photo Identification before entering details in the log and escorting the visitors to the Master. From there the inspector was met by the capable Captain Ayer, whose personable demeanour radiated the confidence of his extensive VLCC sailing experience. Details were ready, the crew looked sharp, and the ship was in good condition for the inspection. The end result netted only five observations, demonstrating the capability of the professional SeaTeam staff who managed to get the job done right the first time.
