1 Position Details Position Title Reporting To (position) Direct and Indirect Reports (number) Business Unit Conditions of Employment Project Engineer - Civil Engineering Manager N/A Operations & Engineering Full Time, Permanent Job Purpose Statement Responsible for providing the MWPA with cost effective and resource efficient engineering, maintenance and construction through the planning and control of capital works and major maintenance and other projects. Responsible for assisting in the development and delivery of the MWPA Asset Management Plan including design, construction, maintenance of assets and maintaining detailed record. Responsible for providing technical knowledge and support to MWPA personnel to achieve a satisfactory outcome for the task or project. Reporting to the Engineering Manager and providing specialist technical support on a variety of projects, whilst assisting in the management of assigned engineering tasks or projects. Strategic Objective Accountabilities Integrated Management Systems: Compliance with System Procedure 2.4 Health, Safety and Environmental Responsibilities (Document attached) and all other MWPA policies and procedures as amended from time to time. Technical: Quality design and technical planning for work is undertaken. Sound reporting mechanisms are in place. Project Management & Procurement: are managed in accordance with project management principles and procurement is controlled and efficient. Liaison & Advice: Work is coordinated, requirements are well communicated and expertise is provided to other areas of the MWPA when required. General Undertake all work within: Relevant role specific Procedures; Risk, Environment and OH&S management systems; and Across Organisation and Human Resources policies and procedures. Undertake technical design, scoping and budgeting of capital and major maintenance works; Undertake if required software or manual analytical calculations; General knowledge / requirements / understanding of significant design codes; Able to justify design approach; Prepare budgets for all works for approval; Implement cost control and reporting processes; Prepare monthly reports on works status for approval prior to submission to external parties and the CEO; Comply with MWPA purchasing procedures (i.e. Obtain tenders and quotes for the procurement of various equipment and services for approval); Prepare specifications for contracts/projects as required. Project Manage works in accordance with MWPA processes and procedures; Project manage and control the execution and costs of works by external consultants and contractors and in-house tradespersons. To ensure appropriate development / maintenance of port infrastructure at a level that meets service delivery expectations of the MWPA and customers; and Project manage contracts for mechanical, structural, Civil, or electrical and controls, including performance of the role of Principal s Representative and/or Contract Superintendent. Provide, or obtain, technical advice as directed; Liaise with various government and local authorities and port stakeholders as required; Undertake inspections of construction works; and Provide support to MWPA personnel as required Other duties as required by MWPA within the skills and competencies of the employee. Education, Skills and Experience Required SELECTION CRITERIA: All below items must be addressed individually as part of a position application Qualification A Degree in Engineering. Experience Minimum of 10 years experience within a relevant Environment; Minimum of 10 years Project Management experience; and Membership or credentials to obtain membership and CPEng. status with Engineers Australia. Skills Experience in design, construction and maintenance, bulk handling facilities, and other port infrastructure; Experience in Project Management of multi-disciplinary projects; Strong experience and skills in identifying and remedying operational efficiencies and service problems; Experience in the preparation of designs and documentation related to engineering, including engineering services briefs and working with external specialists; Sound understanding of Occupational Health and Safety, Mine Safety Inspection and Environmental protection legislation and regulations; Working knowledge of engineering codes, standards, legislation and regulations; Experience in the financial and quality management of contracts; Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce top quality technical documents Ability to manage, direct and supervise technical consultants; and High Level Computer literacy in Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook.
