Developing Public Service Volunteers or supported voluntary organisations to reduce vulnerability and build community resilience. LC 5-6 (Progression arrangements apply) This is not a comprehensive list of all tasks which may be required of the post holder. It is illustrative of the general nature and level of responsibility of the work to be undertaken. KEY RESULT AREAS To support volunteers that make up the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership or are supported by them, such as Community Support Volunteers, Cadets, Specials, Road Watch, OPCC volunteers, Neighbourhood Watch, other watch schemes or multi agency volunteers including identifying, recruiting, tasking and developing where appropriate. To visit those in need of support within the community, assess the person for suitability to the volunteer service and matching with appropriate volunteers in order to reduce vulnerability and build community resilience. To develop and promote volunteer opportunities within the Lancashire Volunteers Partnership, such as Public Service Volunteers, Special Constables, Volunteer Police and Fire Cadets, Community Support to add value to service delivery, including participating in or arranging multi-agency recruiting events. To represent the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership by attending multi-agency allocation meetings or other meetings that make up referral pathways. To conduct risk assessments to ensure that all Public Service Volunteers are deployed into safe areas of volunteering and are provided with the relevant briefings around their safety and wellbeing, liaising with the Health and Safety Officer where appropriate. To use an Early Action approach to identify and continually reassess the use of all public service volunteers to ensure they are meeting the aims and objectives of public services in Lancashire and the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership.

2 To communicate relevant and timely information to volunteers and partners supported by Lancashire Volunteer Partnership including using social media, messaging systems or cloud based ICT systems where appropriate. To monitor volunteer capacity, capability and offering in a given place by liaising with other voluntary organisations. To provide advice and guidance to volunteers, partner agencies or staff and managers to support the efficient and effective use of volunteers to reduce vulnerability and build community resilience. To ensure the efficient and effective use of all Volunteers that make up the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership and those it supports. To liaise with the Constabulary, other partner agencies and volunteer leads to enhance the use of Public Service Volunteers and develop relationships to ensure that work is co-ordinated to meet the Constabulary s vision for volunteering and its core objectives. To support the continual personal development of all public service volunteers and those supported by the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership by identifying training needs and arranging training that meets them. To support and develop opportunities to improve the recognition and retention of public service volunteers and those supported by the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership. To monitor and evaluate management information and to produce reports, as required, in respect of the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership volunteers. To share best practice by networking with other Volunteer Officers in the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership or other organisations and identifying improved ways of working that will deliver better quality of service or better meet the objectives of the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership. Demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering a high standard of service with an emphasis on quality at all times. To promote and comply with our obligations under the Equality Act 2010 and Lancashire Constabulary s policy on health and safety both in the delivery of service and the treatment of others. To be responsible for improving personal performance by actively engaging in the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) process. To carry out any other duties which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities and grading of the post

3 CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION Essential Desirable To be identified by Knowledge/Experience Experience of communicating across a wide spectrum of people both individuals and in groups Experience of the production, development and analysis of management information (graphs, tables, statistics) to support and inform management decisions Experience of dealing with members of the public and working in partnership with other departments and agencies Experience of working on own initiative, investigating problems, developing solutions and taking appropriate timely action to resolve them Experience of inputting, updating and maintaining computerised and manual filing/recording systems Experience of using Microsoft Software Applications, including MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access. Experience of producing accurate written information and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail Ability to project manage activities and initiatives Experience of working effectively as a member of a small team and with minimum supervision. Demonstrate self-motivation and willingness to develop self within the role Knowledge of Health & Safety, Equality, Data Protection Principles and Community & Race Relations Legislation/issues Other A flexible approach to working hours and workloads POP Trained Knowledge of the Constabulary s corporate objectives, Community Safety Strategy and Reassurance Strategy Recruitment and Selection Trained. Knowledge and / or experience of working with volunteers or Special Constabulary.
