1 The purpose of this Job Description and is to set out the responsibilities of the post holder so that all aspects of the job are understood and the job is carried out in a safe, effective and efficient manner A. POST HOLDER: POST TITLE LOCATION POST REPORTS TO COMMERCIAL MANAGER IPSWICH MANAGING DIRECTOR B. THIS IS A SAFETY CRITICAL POST AND THE POST HOLDER IS REQUIRED TO TEST NEGATIVE FOR THE PRESENCE OF DRUGS PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT AND RANDOMLY THEREAFTER GENERAL NOTE All employees are expected to act in a safe manner at all times and ensure that those around them do not put themselves or others at risk. PURPOSE OF THE POST This post is responsible for the continuous development and management of the processes that will ensure the ongoing commercial viability of The Rail Tech Group Its prime purpose is to manage all of the commercial interests of the company ensuring that all commercial matters between our company, customers and suppliers are amicably and professionally managed in line with our company values and philosophies. SPECIFIC STATUTORY DUTIES NOTE: The following is a list of the main Statutory Duties of the post holder. The specific duties under the Acts and Regulations are too numerous to be included in this document and it is the duty of the post holder to consider all possible duties under the various legislation. Advice may be obtained from the HSQE Manager. SPECIFIC KEY SAFETY DUTIES G.1. The post holder will ensure any Accidents, Incidents or Near Misses are reported to the HSQE Manager PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES H.1. H.2. H.3. Management of all commercial aspects of the business including contract negotiations and tendering, invoicing, applications, debt recovery and negotiations. Ensure timely and appropriate application for payment to Network Rail and other clients. Establishing and maintaining appropriate systems for the measurement and valuation and billing of works undertaken by the company. Prepare management information in respect of business enquiries, tenders, orders received and projected, costs and efficiency performance indicators. Evaluate lost opportunities and propose future strategies. Liaise with Network Rail and other clients in the receipt of tender enquiries, preparation and agreement of contracts Liaise with Divisional Managers through the performance of contracts, timescales, costs and allocation thereof and achievement of budgets. Contribute to business and commercial strategy and planning, including management and development of policies, systems, processes and personnel involved. H.10. Assist and guide with Planning, Development and implementation strategy for Divisional Managers so as to meet agreed overall business performance plans within agreed budgets and timescales H.11. Contribute to the evaluation of business strategy and performance in cooperation with Directors and Management Team. H.12. Managing company insurance, administration, supplier contracts and agreements, legal areas and activities, negotiations H.13. Participating in major supplier/customer/partner relationships, regulatory body s relationships and strategies, approvals and accreditations. H.14. Ensure Commercial decisions / activities meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care. H.15. Liaison with all areas of the business so as to understand all necessary aspects and needs, ensuring that Commercial activities are appropriately aligned with the overall business objectives, purposes and achievements H.16 Maintain awareness and knowledge of Commercial developments, legislation and methods and provide suitable interpretation to the Board, Managers and staff within the organisation as necessary. 4 DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY I.1. Key in decisions relating to the maintenance of existing and raising of new business contracts. REPORT PREPARATION J.1. J.2. Management information in respect of costs, charges and performance indicators for presentation to the Management Meeting. Cost effective solutions reports regarding identified expenditure centres. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS REQUIRED K.1. The minimum qualifications for this post are: Formal education Professional Institute qualifications Broad experience and knowledge of the Railway Industry Broad experience and knowledge of industrial business K.2.
