2 Communications Coordinator: Content and Community Management Position reference Position type Remuneration Service Area/division/state Effective date Full time, working 38 hours per week ongoing $85,000 per annum plus 9.5% superannuation and salary packaging Marketing & Communications Marketing & Communications/Business Development /Victoria September 2018 Working to the direction of the Communications Manager, the Communications Coordinator: Content and Community Management will plan, write and produce engaging social media content across multiple platforms to build the reach and impact of Mind s digital community. The coordinator will also support the Communications Manager by providing written content for media, publications and other applications as required. The Marketing and Communications Team oversees corporate communications, brand promotion and PR, and provides support to Mind s programs and services, including for fundraising, research and advocacy. The Marketing and Communications Team sits within a larger Business Development Division. This division has a critical role in the viability of the organisation as it transitions from a government block-funded health service to a customer-focused business (albeit not-for-profit), where at least 50% of future income will come from individuals purchasing services with their NDIS packages or through direct fee payment.

3 Create content Research, write, edit and produce engaging social media content which aligns with Mind s brand, corporate narrative and tone of voice, and helps build a positive online community that supports the Mind brand and its programs. Source or produce images as required for social media posts. Apply a good understanding of the issues affecting people living with mental ill-health and those who care for and support them to create sensitive and relevant content. Develop social media calendar Plan and implement scheduling of social media content relevant to Mind s marketing and operational requirements, public affairs and advocacy campaigns. Proactively identify gaps in Mind s social media content and work with business unit and program representatives to develop content. Monitoring of social media channels Monitor Mind s social media channels and those of other relevant organisations and individuals. Engage with commentary as appropriate, using your best endeavours to build a two-way communication with followers. Keep abreast of Mind s digital media results, working in consultation with Mind s Digital Marketing Coordinator to understand how best to enhance the impact of our social media and enhance integration with Mind s websites. Be a champion for Mind s brand and writing style Ensure content is presented to a high standard (error free) and is consistent with Mind s brand blueprint, brand style guide and writing style guide. Build strong stakeholder relationships Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Mind s Chief Executive and the Executive team, to ensure social media content is representative of, responsive to and consistent with Mind s communications interests. Writing for other projects as required Support the Communications Manager in producing high quality content for other items including Mind s Annual Report, publications, website stories and internal communications. Workplace health and safety Actively contribute to the maintenance of a safe workplace. Ensure all safety issues are reported and addressed as they arise. Other duties Document all activities using Mind s ICT system and processes. Actively participate in wider organisational initiatives. Undertake relevant training and professional development. Other duties as delegated.

4 Reports directly to the Communications Manager Core requirements A tertiary degree in a communications or humanities discipline or equivalent relevant field At least five years experience in digital communications or community management roles, demonstrating exceptional writing skills and good instinct for storytelling. A thorough understanding of social media channels and their different purposes and audiences Capability in using social media management tools Capability in graphics software (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is an advantage Experience working in the health and human services area, or communicating with and about vulnerable populations Current valid Driver s License. Current National Police Record Check. Current Working With Children Check (Employee). 5 This position is full time fixed term working 38 hours per week until 28 February Working days will generally be Monday to Friday worked between the hours of 8am to 6pm as required. Please note that the work pattern may be subject to change to meet the needs of the organisation. You are able to salary package a tax free amount, which is currently up to $15,900 per FBT year, plus other items including meal and entertainment and accommodation. The amount available for salary packaging will be subject to Commonwealth legislation as it applies from time to time and on the basis that Mind will not incur any liabilities for FBT. Mind offers salary packaging through an outsourced provider (currently RACV Salary Solutions). Other conditions are as per Mind s industrial agreement. Employer superannuation contribution will be paid according to the legislative requirement. Appointment is subject to a six month probationary period of employment.
