3 ROLE SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND We currently require an enthusiastic, sports minded individual for the post of Sports Development Coordinator within our Membership Services department. This post will be instrumental in building excellent relationships with sports clubs and developing the Twilight Sports Programme to raise the profile of sport at De Montfort University. An understanding and knowledge of sports development is essential as is the commitment to personal and social development of others. One or more qualifications in sports / leisure would therefore be advantageous. Health and safety within this area will also be a prime responsibility as will the supervision of volunteers and organisation of sporting activities. This role is integral to our Membership Services and is an exciting opportunity for an individual who would like to join a dynamic and aspirational organisation. 4 JOB SPECIFICATION Job title: Department: Salary : Hours of Work: Responsible to: Supervision: Purpose of Post: Sports Development Coordinator Membership Services (Sports Development) 18,549 to 22,029 per annum (depending on experience) 37 hours per week Sports Development Manager Frontrunner and Volunteers Working under the direction of the Sports Development Manager, to support the co-ordination of the Sports Development Office including the Twilight Sports Programme. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To assist the Sports Development Manager to maintain existing membership, involvement and participation and encourage new engagement. To support the Sports Development Manager to maximise opportunities to increase student participation and achievement in sport across De Montfort University. To promote and organise the Twilight Sports programme in liaison with the Sports Development Manager paying particular attention to Halls of Residence. To promote, organise and manage an Intramural Sports Programme. To recruit and place sports volunteers and co-ordinate coaching delivery to facilitate the Twilight Sports programme. Alongside the relevant Elected Officers, prepare and deliver sports committee training including website presence and the provision of operating guidelines to maintain codes of safety for sporting activities. To promote and facilitate where appropriate the DSU Active membership scheme. To increase student involvement in the DSU Award scheme. To coordinate hire of external facilities for all relevant sports including the DMU Sports Centre and various other externally hired facilities in the surrounding area. To coordinate the promotion of sports development and be responsible for distributing marketing material. To work alongside the Sports Development Manager with regard to administering club budget allocations. To keep accurate records of student participation and maintain an up to date database, using appropriate in-house systems.

5 To be responsible for collating and reporting on participation statistics and carrying out qualitative feedback for both DSU and Sport England. To support the organisation of key events during the year including Freshers, Varsity, Colours and other Membership Services collaborative events as directed by the Sports Development Manager. To oversee administrative systems for health and safety, including activity specific risk assessments and appropriate audit checks. Oversee an appropriate system of checks on equipment, and ensure there is adequate advice on the purchase/hire of new equipment. If qualified, to act as a minibus driver when required to support participants of sports and ensure all minibus drivers, including club officials, are trained through the recognised procedure. In conjunction with the Volunteer and Societies Coordinator, to be responsible for the day to day management of the minibus booking system. Attend Regional BUCS meetings as a DSU representative, where appropriate. To collaboratively work with all functions within the Membership Services Department. To cover the Sports Development office in the absence of other personnel. Any other associated or similar duties that may be necessary from time to time as determined by the Sports Development Manager.
