2 the organisation overview: The Victorian Healthcare Association (VHA) is the not-for-profit peak body supporting Victoria s public and community health services to delivery quality care. Members of the VHA, established in 1938, include public hospitals, community health services and aged care providers. VHA is the peak body for the $18 billion Victorian public healthcare sector. It represents 96% of the sector, giving it exceptional access, influence and scope providing a unified advocacy and policy development voice to State and Federal Government. 3 the position position: reports to: reports: Director - Member Services & Strategic Partnerships CEO Member Services Manager Business Development Manager role objective: The VHA is in the process of setting a new strategic direction to better meet the needs of its members. To assist the organisation in achieving this, a refreshed organisational structure presents a number of exciting employment opportunities across a team of dedicated professionals. The Director - Member Services & Strategic Partnerships is a newly created role and forms a key part of the VHA s executive leadership team. The position is responsible for the strategic development and leadership of member services, events and business development, in particular developing and implementing a membership retention strategy and an income growth strategy focused on delivering member value and financial sustainability. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that member services, programs and partnerships are strategic, based on stakeholder need and aligned with organisational objectives. The incumbent will also hold responsibility for the oversight of organisational ICT and facilities maintenance, consistent with each VHA director taking on a broader corporate responsibility. specific duties and responsibilities: strategy: Develop and drive the implementation of a membership value, retention and growth strategy including attraction and retention in line with organisational objectives Develop and drive the implementation of an income growth strategy, focused on delivering member value, financial sustainability and diversity of revenue streams against targets and in line with organisational objectives Oversee the development and continual refresh of the VHA member and VHA and ACHG partner value statements, offerings and benefits including measuring same; ensure that the membership offering is clearly presented through communication channels membership: Regularly and proactively engage with members and stakeholders to ensure that the VHA is meeting their needs Regularly report on membership retention against strategies and targets to CEO and Board Contribute to the planning and delivery of member services, programs and events, ensuring the member experience is of the highest possible quality Regularly review the structure of membership and subscription fees

4 Maintain a strong understanding of membership practices particularly within memberbased professional associations Attend VHA events and, when necessary, provide event logistics support business development and partnerships: Identify and cultivate new business partnerships and opportunities, with the support of the Business Development Manager, with a focus on the creation of additional value for VHA members and the ACHG and alternative income streams for same Proactively identify and secure new corporate partners to continue to grow VHA s income and reputation, and manage relationships with current partners to ensure partnerships deliver high value to members Regularly report on corporate partnership growth and retention against strategies and targets to CEO and Board Engage with departmental stakeholders, in collaboration with other directors, to identify and cultivate opportunities for VHA to deliver programs and services on behalf of government Provide strategic advice and support to the Executive Director, Australian Centre for Healthcare Governance on business growth and partnership opportunities including development of new products and services Provide regular and useful insights to the CEO and Board on the business development performance of the organisation administration: Provide oversight and direction to the Manager of Business Development and Manager of Member Services and membership services team, providing support and guidance; manage the performance planning process and encourage opportunities for professional development, as required Be accountable to the Chief Executive Officer for the membership and partnership budget, forecasting regularly Implement reconciliation systems with the Finance team to ensure that membership and finance reporting of membership income is consistent Participate as a member of the VHA leadership team in strategic, operational, and budget planning processes including the preparation of plans, operational and project budgets Manage and coordinate special projects as directed by the Chief Executive Officer Engage internal staff in contract negotiations, lead awareness across the organisation of member and partner commitments and how these impact on operations to ensure all agreed commitments are operationalised and fulfilled Oversight of organisational ICT software and hardware, and facilities maintenance, ensuring a coordinated, streamlined and proactive approach to management of same Keep abreast of Victorian public health sector challenges, issues that may impact members and partners, and significant changes within member organsiations and share intelligence with VHA colleagues The above list is not exhaustive and the role may change to meet the objectives of the organisation.

5 the person skills and attributes: essential: A relevant tertiary qualification A minimum of five years experience in a similar role focused on leading strategic partnerships, business development and member services Excellent written communication skills with proven capability writing for a range of audiences and purposes including development of business cases and grant applications Demonstrated ability to develop and measure strategic initiatives to attract and retain members and or partners Proven leadership capacity and demonstrated experience in strategic service development to improve service delivery in a membership focused environment Demonstrated extensive experience and capability in building relationships, influencing and negotiating effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders including chief executives Demonstrated capability to problem-solve and develop sound strategy Demonstrated business and financial management competence A strong commitment to excellence Demonstrated staff management and leadership experience and the capacity to develop and nurture professional teams Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with demonstrated ability in the prioritising of and scheduling of work to meet deadlines A current Victorian driving licence desirable: Experience in a not-fo- profit associations environment A strong understanding of the Victorian public health sector
