HOUSEKEEPING DEPARTMENT COULD BE ONE OF 3 jobs Based on business needs Housekeeper, Laundry Attendant, or Janitorial Worker. HOUSEKEEPER: The essential functions of this position include cleaning guest cabins, lodge rooms and lobby areas. Responsibilities include but are not limited to stripping bed linens; making beds; cleaning toilets, sinks and showers; vacuuming carpet; dusting furniture; washing windows; emptying trash; sweeping and mopping floors; cleaning refrigerators and ovens; and cleaning fireplaces. Must be able to carry 30 lbs. up and down stairs and move furniture and appliances up to 150 lbs. with another person. LAUNDRY ATTENDANT: The essential functions of this position include working in the commercial laundry. Responsibilities include but are not limited to sorting, cleaning, drying and folding linen; packaging linen bundles for distribution; and assisting in transporting linens. Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. JANITORIAL WORKER: The essential functions of this position include cleaning all public buildings and public restrooms. Responsibilities include but are not limited to cleaning toilets and sinks; emptying trash; sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming and cleaning carpets. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. from the floor into a truck. Must be able to get in and out of a vehicle up to 100 times a day. CENTER SERVICES AND SUPPORT WORKER: The essential functions of this position include cleaning all meeting rooms. Responsibilities include but are not limited to cleaning toilets and sinks; emptying trash; sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming and cleaning carpets; assisting in the set up and breakdown of tables and chairs in

2 meeting rooms; delivering items to guests; and performing audio visual responsibilities and tasks as necessary Special Skills required for position Intermediate Level of English Comprehension. EMPLOYEE DRESSCODE What is the dress code? : Food Service Workers and Housekeeping staff need to arrive with black pants and black closed toe shoes. Center Services and Support Worker: Must wear full length

3 khaki/tan pants. Shorts, sweatpants or yoga-type pants will not be permitted. Must wear closed-toe shoes. Here are some other guidelines: As an employee you are expected to dress in a manner normally acceptable in business establishments. Seasonal staff and volunteers are required to wear YMCA staff shirts while on duty. At all other times shirts and/or t-shirts and other articles of clothing need to be clean, neat and should not contain offensive writing, graphics and/or other inappropriate logos. YMCA staff shirts are preferred for year-round staff. Shorts may be allowed in some departments, but need to be mid-thigh or longer. Name badges are considered a member service. All employees are required to wear their name badge while on duty or while eating in the employee dining room. What are the grooming guidelines? : Hair should be clean, neatly trimmed and presentable. A male employee s hair may not be longer than collar length or must be pulled back into a ponytail to be above collar length. Hair must be a natural color. Eccentric hairstyles such as dreadlocks and Mohawks are not permitted. Hair must never be at a length that would create a safety hazard for an employee or volunteer. Sideburns, moustaches and beards should be neatly trimmed to one inch or less. Eccentric styles of facial hair are not permitted. Please note that this is not an excuse to not shave. Jewelry requiring body piercing is prohibited, or may not be visible, except for simple earrings, small nose studs and clear tongue rings (as long as they do not interfere with effective communication). Lip and eyebrow piercings are prohibited. Inappropriate tattoos must not be visible. Appropriate shoes will depend on each department separately. WHAT TO PACK: Clothing (all seasons) should include blue jeans, sweat shirts/sweaters, jacket or parka, tennis shoes, hiking boots, t-shirts, swim suit, as well as some nice clothes for special occasions. Please also refer to the Seasonal Staff Handbook in the Dress Code section and the written Job Descriptions, for additional information. FOOD SERVICE STAFF ONLY: Black pants, black shoes, and a white shirt. CENTER SERVICES AND SUPPORT STAFF ONLY: Full length khaki/tan pants WINTER STAFF (September April): Bring a heavy coat, scarf, gloves, boots, and hat for the cold weather and snow. Windbreaker / Warm Jacket (Weather can be cold during the summer) Rain Gear no umbrellas due to lightning Good walking shoes or hiking boots Alarm Clock Shower Sandals & Container to carry personal items to shower room Musical instrument (if you play one) Sporting gear (depending on season) Camera Flash Light/Headlamp ipod no large stereo systems please! Adapters for electronics American outlets are different from other countries, and there are no adapters sold near our facility. Cultural Items bring items that represent your home country for cultural events Additional Items extra towel, blankets, toiletries, and personal items. Laptop- There is free wi-fi in the dorms. If you have a laptop you can bring it. Our facility is 3 miles from town and there is limited transportation, so bring anything else you think you might need. Because we are located near a tourist area, items for sale in the local stores can be expensive. WHAT IS AVAILABLE WHEN YOU ARRIVE? The staff lounge has a television with satellite services, DVD. Bed Linens (Staff Bundle) 1 set of sheets, 1 pillow, 1 pillow case, 1 blanket, & 1 towel set is provided. (can be exchanged for new set at Laundry) The rooms include a dresser, bunk beds, and a closet. A microwave and refrigerator are available in the lobbies of all dorms. Camping equipment, snow shoes, and movies can be checked out of the Staff Coordinator s Office for no charge. (Bedrooms are required to be the same gender): The dormitory is mixed gender but not the individual rooms. 5 Activity 1: The YMCA of the Rockies is surrounded on 3 sides by Rocky Mountain National Park. This is a premier place for hiking during the summer time. Activity 2: The YMCA also offers many activities on grounds such as archery, challenge courses, basketball/volleyball, a craft and design center, disc golf, mini golf, fishing, horseback riding, a library, mountain biking, rock climbing, roller-skating, concerts, swimming, and a zip line. Activity 3: We offer a staff calendar every month with staff trips to shopping and other activities. Activity 4: The town of Estes Park also has many festivals during the summer time as well as a lake trail, shopping, restaurants, and live music Helpful Websites: LOCAL AREA INFORMATION Local Population: 6,000 Distance to Major Cities: 1.5 hours by car Is Public Transportation Available? : There is no public transportation to the larger towns. However, there is a shuttle that begins in Late June that goes from the YMCA to the town of Estes Park. Nearest Airport: Denver International Airport Nearest Bus/ Train Station: Denver Are you able to meet students at the airport, bus station, train station, etc. upon arrival in the United States? : No, they will need to use the Estes Park Shuttle which costs $45. The students should send their flight information to Amanda Moulden at amoulden@ymcarockies.org Distance from Housing to Public Transportation: N/A Distance from Housing to Supermarket: 10 minutes by car Average Temperatures: December: -7 to 4C March: -4 to 8C June: 9 to 22C SEASONAL / TEMPORARY WORK Please describe what makes these positions "Seasonal" or "Temporary": Work and Travel students may only work in positions that are considered "Seasonal" or Temporary" in nature. Below is the State Department's definition of these terms: Summer Work/Travel: (b) Purpose. The purpose of this program is to provide foreign college and university students with opportunities to interact with US citizens, experience US culture while sharing their own cultures with Americans they meet, travel in the US, and work in jobs that require minimal training and are seasonal or temporary in order to earn funds to help defray a portion of their expenses. Employment is of a seasonal nature when the required service is tied to a certain time of the year by an event or pattern and requires labor levels above and beyond existing worker levels. Employment is of a temporary nature when an employer's need for the duties to be performed is a one-time occurrence, a peak load need, or an intermittent need. It is the nature of employers' needs, not the nature of the duties that is controlling.

The YMCA of the Rockies International Programs Office hosts an International Fair in July and an International Dinner at the end of August for our international staff to share their culture with our American Guests and Staff. We are looking for international applicants that want a cultural experience, would like to contribute to their assigned department, and enjoy a natural environment.
