2 POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE Facilities Maintenance Assistant BUSINESS UNIT REPORTING TO LOCATION Finance and Infrastructure Facilities Manager Nirimba/Westmead DATE August 2013 CLASSIFICATION 3 PURPOSE OF THE POSITION To support the Facilities team in the handling of all day to day operational requirements of a Facilities and/or Maintenance nature across a large multi site College environment. Ensure all College facilities are fit for purpose, well maintained, and create a clean and inviting environment for UWSCollege students, staff and visitors. ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT UWSCollege Pty Limited is a not-for-profit company, wholly-owned by the University of Western Sydney. The College was created to provide academic pathways to the University, complemented by English language and other professional programs for Australian and International students. Created in 2006, the College has its antecedents in English language and Foundation studies programs offered by various University Schools and entities since the 1980s. UWSCollege is divided into two broad divisional areas: Academic Pathways which is responsible for the delivery of our learning and teaching programs and related student services; and Corporate Services which provides the planning capability and support services to our educational mission. Within these broad divisions are four business units: Academic Pathways English Programs and Professional & Community Programs College Registrar Corporate Services Like its parent institution, UWSCollege operates across a number of campuses in Greater Western Sydney. English Program studies and VETAB Programs are offered from the UWS Westmead campus; Academic Pathways programs are available on the Nirimba Education Precinct at Quakers Hill and at our Westmead campus. The College is scheduled to open a new campus at Lithgow in late 2013 and have a presence on the UWS campus at Bankstown in

3 CONSTRAINT/AUTHORITY LEVEL The position operates in accordance with UWSCollege policies, and the requirements of relevant legislation, awards and agreements. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES This program will be delivered by UWSCollege, which is wholly-owned and controlled by the University of Western Sydney. Attend to Facilities, Maintenance, Services and Accommodation requests (e.g. teaching space, student recreational space, office space, facilities) Responsible for assisting in preventative and reactive maintenance, e.g. Logging, maintenance jobs through UWS s CW&F team, and monitoring progress of work requests, hands on physical maintenance including moving of furniture and room setups Regularly audit, monitor, and respond to requests pertaining to repairs and services Carry out electrical testing and tagging and maintain register Under direction, liaise with the University s Capital Works and Facilities staff to ensure the College is well maintained and fit for purpose (including cleaners, grounds, HVAC, logistics, security) In accordance with policies and procedures, source quotes for purchases and coordinate the installation / setup of new equipment Assist in ongoing UWSC staff parking arrangements, parking permit allocations and maintain register Assist Facilities Manager and Coordinator on projects SELECTION CRITERIA 1. Demonstrated experience working in a Facilities, Maintenance or Handyman role in a hands-on capacity within a corporate or education environment. 2. Demonstrated communication skills and a proactive, client-focused approach to Facilities Maintenance. 3. Competency in computer skills and ability to use standard desktop software (Windows & Outlook, Word, Excel, Access). 4. Demonstrated problem solving, prioritization and time management skills. 5. Experience working within a WHS Regulatory environment. 6. Knowledge of HVAC systems including BMS systems. 7. Electrical Testing and Tagging qualification or a willingness to obtain. 8. Current drivers license Class C. 2

Key personnel include: Finance and Infrastructure staff specifically Project Managers charged with Capital Works related projects and IT staff UWSCollege staff and students UWS CWF and ITS staff Facilities staff of Precinct partners External contractors Onsite contractors Security, cleaners and grounds staff. CHALLENGES Key challenges for this role will be: Working in a fast passed dynamic workplace. Coordinating access to facilities without disrupting core business. Working across multiple sites and locations. Competing demands. 3
