1 Training Support Worker Status: Hours: Award: Reports to: Contract period: Probation period: Full-time 76 hours/fortnight SCHCDS Industry Award 2010, Level % Super + Salary Sacrifice Option Training Programs Coordinator Three months fixed-term Six (6) months DESCRIPTION Belong delivers a range of services and activities from two community venues on Brisbane s Southside: the Acacia Ridge & Districts Community Centre and The Social Space in Moorooka. Our facilities are vibrant and busy community hubs with strong connections to the diverse people and organisations of our local communities. Belong has been operating since 1989 and offers a valuesbased, family-friendly place of employment. The Training Support Worker role performs a range of coordination, training and support functions across our employment and training programs. We work with community members, training providers, employers and other stakeholders to assist diverse job seekers participate successfully in the local labour market and help businesses meet their staffing needs. Our work includes the delivery of a range of training and traineeship programs funded under the Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative. The Training Support Worker role requires a self-motivated, solution-focused, highly-organised and office technology-savvy person with a proven ability to work effectively with a range of clients and stakeholders, while managing multiple priorities within an often changing environment. 2 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Project Coordination 1. Plan and deliver designated Skilling Queenslanders for Work funded training and traineeship projects, and any other Belong employment and training initiatives. 2. Meet Key Performance Indicators with regard to participant enrolment, training completion and employment outcomes for Belong s employment and training programs. 3. Actively promote Belong s employment and training programs to relevant target groups (such as local communities, other service providers, schools, sports and community clubs, churches, etc.). Client Support 4. Plan, resource and deliver a range of group-based and/or individual client support and job readiness activities (such as program information sessions, job readiness workshops, career information sessions, one-on-one intensive job search support and interview coaching, other learning support activities, industry visits, guest speakers, etc.). 5. Respond to general client needs by providing assistance, information and referral, and/or client advocacy to help facilitate equitable access to services and support. Stakeholder Engagement 6. Build strong working relationships with program participants, partner training organisations and other stakeholders relevant to Belong s employment and training programs, and the organisation as a whole. 7. Actively engage relevant local employers to secure work experience opportunities and postprogram employment options for program participants. 8. Contribute to the design, planning and implementation of new employment and training initiatives. Information Management 9. Keep complete, accurate and timely records and data on program participants, program progress and performance, as well as client service delivery activities and outcomes. 10. Contribute to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of Belong s employment and training service delivery structures, systems and processes. 11. Regularly seek feedback on Belong s employment and training programs (e.g., from clients, training partners, employers and/or external stakeholders) to review and continuously improve program design and delivery method. 12. Contribute to the development and maintenance of professional document templates (e.g., upto-date resume templates, program pro-formas, etc.) and functional in-house electronic databases (such as stakeholder and employer contact data bases, participant detail spreadsheets, etc.). 13. Provide regular reports on program progress and performance to Belong management and funding bodies; contribute program information and data for other publications, as requested by Belong management (e.g., annual reports, promotional texts, media releases, etc.). 3 14. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant Government funding programs and current Belong funding contracts; keep abreast of current economic trends and relevant Government policy developments. Other 15. Perform any general administrative duties within established systems and processes relevant to this role and the effective and efficient functioning of the organisation as a whole. 16. Respect and abide by Belong s Vision, Mission and Values, and work within Belong s Policies and Procedures framework to achieve the aims and objectives of Belong s Strategic Plan. 17. Work collaboratively across Belong teams, the organisation s management and volunteers, and contribute to a respectful and supportive workplace culture. 18. Perform any other duties commensurate with this role and as directed by Belong management. 4 SELECTION CRITERIA Essential skills and experience 1. Demonstrable experience in the delivery of human services programs, preferably with an employment and training focus. 2. Proven success in assisting disadvantaged job seekers, including from migrant and refugee backgrounds, into sustainable employment. 3. Demonstrable knowledge of Australian job search techniques and application processes, and the underpinning employability skills employers look for in candidates. 4. Demonstrable experience in the development, planning and delivery of innovative and highquality group-based and individual client assistance activities with a focus on learning support, work readiness and employment transition. 5. Proven ability to develop positive working relationships with a range of external stakeholders, including individuals, service providers, training organisations and employers. 6. Thorough understanding of current (State and Federal) Government employment and training priorities and frameworks, as well as funded services and initiatives. 7. Very good verbal and written communication skills; very good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications. 8. Proven ability to research, collate and present information and data in an accurate and accessible manner. 9. Proven ability to self-motivate, take initiative and problem solve while managing multiple priorities within an often changing environment. Desirable Tertiary qualification in human services or other relevant field, or equivalent relevant work experience Experience in planning and delivering Skilling Queenslanders for Work or similar training and employment programs Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Possession of a valid open driver licence APPLICATION PROCESS To apply for this role, please submit a cover letter of no more than two (2) pages outlining the relevant skills and experience you would bring to this role.
