3 The Ntionl Rod Sfety Prtnership Progrm Wht is the problem? Rod trvel is the highest risk ctivity of most businesses. The risk rises from both business nd trvel to nd from work trvel. Two-thirds of ll work-relted ftlities involve vehicle, t conservtive nnul cost to the community of $1.5 billion, $500 million of which re direct compenstion pyments. From n orgnistion s perspective the totl cost of n incident cn be 8 to 53 times higher thn the insurnce cost pyout. Wht is NRSPP? The Ntionl Rod Sfety Prtnership Progrm (NRSPP) is collbortive network estblished to support Austrlin businesses to develop positive rod sfety culture. The progrm ims to ssist Austrlin businesses nd orgnistions to improve the sfety of their employees nd help reduce the ntion s rod trum. Improving rod sfety is simply good business. How nd why ws NRSPP estblished? The Ntionl Rod Sfety Strtegy identifies shred responsibility to reduce deths nd serious injuries on the rod. It is not just the domin of government. The NRSPP ws estblished to bring together businesses, reserchers nd government in n industry-led collbortive network. It ims to encourge businesses to shre their knowledge cross sectors. It s bout reducing deth nd injuries without the red tpe. Since the progrm officilly lunched in 2014 s prt of the UN Decde of Action on Rod Sfety, it hs become cler tht industry s rod sfety leders re eger to shre their knowledge with their peers nd other sectors to help them recognise tht being sfe is not cost but n integrl prt of good business. The NRSPP hs been developed by n industryled Steering Committee. Its secretrit is hosted by ARRB nd is funded principlly by government colition nd ARRB Group (ARRB). Wht does NRSPP do? The progrm provides free networking, support nd eduction to ssist orgnistions in mking rod sfety prt of their orgnistionl culture. The NRSPP cn help businesses of ll sizes, cross ll sectors, to build rod sfety inititives specific to their workplce nd beyond. Importntly, it brings together nd promotes converstions between businesses, government nd reserchers to help Austrlin orgnistions develop strong sfety culture something tht is criticl to running successful business. 5 NRSPP prtnership tiers The NRSPP invites orgnistions to become prt of the progrm. Size, sector, public, privte, not-for-profit, there is plce for your orgnistion. NRSPP is currently funded primrily by government nd ARRB with the industry-led Steering Committee consisting of orgnistions tht hd the vision, nd resources to guide the progrm s development from inception in 2012, lunch in 2014, to tody. The progrms success is bsed on n ctive doing prtner bse. The NRSPP prtner tiers provide venues for involvement from funding the secretrit, sponsoring specific elements or growing the support network. Core Prtner A minimum $50,000 per nnum where the funding is directed solely to support the pproved ctivities of the NRSPP Secretrit. Prtner Sponsor A minimum $50,000 per nnum or equivlent in-kind support where the funding is specificlly tied to delivery of projects, reserch or the development of progrm tools. Progrm Prtner (PP) In-kind commitment which is good first step to becoming prt of NRSPP to understnd how it functions nd opportunities for enggement. PP s re required to mke commitment to shre informtion nd support rod sfety knowledge trnsfer. Entitlements include ll the benefits open to Prtner Sponsors, plus: monthly communictions representtion on the Steering Committee the bility to influence the NRSPP work progrm recognition in the NRSPP Monthly Bulletin nd where relevnt on the website recognition on NRSPP home pge conduit to other funders, ntionl rod sfety forums nd Steering Committee prtners.
