1 Position Description Applications Trainer Information Management Team MAIN PURPOSE To prepare and deliver generic and customised applications training for new and existing BOP District Health Board staff, with the main focus on clinical applications. Specifically: To enable staff to fully utilise application functionality so that electronic information which is essential to the care of patients and for management needs is recorded accurately and is available in a timely manner. To work in partnership with strategic IM projects for new and upgraded applications To provide initial system and application orientation training on a regular basis for all new staff. 2 ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT: GM Information Management Information Services Manager Applications Trainer Delivery of high quality, effective classroom based and one-on-one clinical applications training, and non clinical applications training where required. Plan and deliver tailored follow up training in the workplace by liaising with Clinical Applications specialists (CAT) and Data Integrity reporting staff to: Identify trainees with lack of knowledge who would benefit from extra support Identify application functionality problems and report these to appropriate Clinical Applications staff. Ensure training room facilities and equipment are maintained and there is an appropriate level of training material inventory prepared and on hand. Deliver new staff training through Orientation Day to provide orientation of best practice use of clinical applications for new doctors and nursing staff. Includes testing and confirmation of new staff logins Nature and scope of responsibilities Operational Requirements Project and Process Involvement Users have learned skills necessary to maximise application functionality Data integrity issues are minimised Volumes and type of training delivered are monitored and reported Users are aware of agreed application processes and have the skills to record data effectively. There are no consistently recurring errors reported from individual users for longer than one month Volumes and type of training delivered are monitored and reported Ad hoc training support is delivered to organisational users within reasonable timeframes of requests being received. Training equipment is maintained and any technical issues reported and corrected. Current courseware is available for all classes and new users. Training environment is professional and conducive to all styles of learning New staff know how to login to BOP DHB networks and are able to access and navigate through the applications relevant to their roles. The new learning experience is interesting with up to date, dynamic and business relevant courseware offered. Work with new and upgraded clinical Project involvement is positive and delivers

3 application project groups to: contribute to the development of new learning plans with customised documentation and multi-media training aids. participate in Vendor delivered training courses to gain understanding of new and changed clinical applications. plan, schedule and implement training for these applications within the project timeframes. Maintain internal processes to accurately track number of people trained by application and type of training setting. Monitor quality of training content and delivery to identify improvement opportunities. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement by assisting in identifying, developing and disseminating new initiatives and ideas which support better use of DHB applications. Includes: Maintaining up to date knowledge of application technologies and processes to ensure current best practice training delivery. Facilitation and maintenance of good relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment between business and clinical recording processes with training documentation, courseware and delivery. Contribute to risk identification through review of the use, usability and effectiveness of DHB s applications. training in accordance with pre-planned schedules. Report volume and type of training delivered as required by manager and raise any issues that need addressing. Ensure feedback processes are in place to adequately record the quality of training being delivered. Understanding of current technologies, capabilities and changes to application parameters and user requirements Research and development requirements are quantified and communicated to IS manager. Relationship Management Risk Management Networks and alliances are developed with BOP DHB business managers and Information Management team, as well as with other DHB trainers. Productive relationships are established and/or maintained within the organisation at all levels to enable the promotion of full utilisation and maximised functionality of clinical applications. Health & Safety Discovered risks are identified and reported to IS Manager. Contribute to the company meeting the Training rooms have minimal environmental risk, are tidy, safe and functional.

Include the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi within all aspects of the role and its outcomes Ensure that consultation and engagement processes include appropriate mechanisms to meet the need of Maori in a culturally appropriate and safe manner Personal Attributes Business Skills - essential Practical experience or qualification in adult teaching Relevant technical or tertiary qualification Excellent written communication and documentation skills in all media types Experience in the preparation and delivery of applications training, preferably in a clinical environment to trainees with diverse skill levels. Understanding of adult learning styles and resources Ability to design, develop and deliver tailored training packages Business Skills - preferred Experience or understanding of clinical processes. Knowledge and working experience with any BOP DHB current clinical applications such as Patient Administration, Clinical Intranet and diagnostic reporting applications. You must notify Manager of any changes to scope or conditions on practice (determined by Regulatory Authority) 3. You must complete the requirements of any competency programme 4. You must notify employer of concerns relating to the risk of harm to the public of another health practitioner practicing below the required standard of competence. 5.
