2 Project Management Team Manager, Strategy and Planning, Corporate Services Are you experienced in leading a team of Senior Project Managers? Do you want to play a pivotal role in coaching and supporting our Project Managers in understanding and applying change management methodologies? Are you a skilled resourcing manager with experience in understanding, shaping and managing resource plans for large and complex strategic initiatives? The University of Leeds has a new and ambitious strategic plan. You will join a small influential team playing a pivotal role in supporting senior leaders across the University in the implementation and delivery of the plan. You will provide specialist resource and line management services for the Business Change Project Managers. The Business Change Team work with initiatives that are complex, multi-faceted, and involve significant organisational and behavioural change. You will need the skills to balance priorities, deal with complex academic and financial information, together with an ability to work consultatively with others. What does the role entail? As the Project Management Team Leader your main duties will include: Working with senior stakeholders to understand and manage project demand; Managing the pipeline of project activity ensuring that demand is in line with capacity; Undertaking training needs analysis and supporting the training needs of PMs within the constraints of the team s training budget Working with the Project Management Office (PMO) Manager to ensure PMs are supported in understanding and applying change management methodologies; Provide coaching and development to Project Managers to enable the team to fulfil their responsibilities.

3 Supporting the process of project prioritisation across the University to ensure alignment to the strategic plan; Liaising with IT and Estates PMOs to ensure consistency in resource management (e.g. working with preferred suppliers list, alignment of career ladder); Managing recruitment and interview processes for Business Change Project Managers including implementing induction and probation procedures; Line managing the Business Change PM team through regular 1:1's and the annual staff review process, managing contractual changes in line with HR Policy. Deputising (where appropriate) for the Head of Business Change; Contributing to the development of change management skills throughout the University through sharing best practice, coaching and supporting colleagues and seeking opportunities to raise the profile of the team through these opportunities; Demonstrating both personal and role model leadership in terms of being focussed, flexible, professional, motivated and personally effective in order to deliver the agreed deliverables and outcomes; Developing and maintaining a high level of knowledge of the latest developments within the University, the Higher Education (HE) sector, and best practice in PM management in order to provide advice and guidance on a range of issues. These duties provide a framework for the role and should not be regarded as a definitive list. Other reasonable duties may be required consistent with the grade of the post. What will you bring to the role? As the Project Management Team Leader you will have: Experience of line management and leading teams of Senior Project Managers, demonstrating leadership skills with experience in coaching and sharing best practice to ensure Senior Project Managers are consulted and supported in delivering change; Significant experience as a resourcing manager in understanding, shaping and managing resource plans for large and complex strategic initiatives;

4 Significant experience of demonstrating the specific duties and responsibilities as detailed in the job description. A good understanding of Higher Education combined with the ability to challenge accepted norms; Strong problem solving and analytical capability confident dealing with complex financial, performance, strategy and organisational information; The ability to quickly develop and maintain strong internal networks across a complex organisation; Knowledge of P30 / P3M3/ Prince2/ MSP combined with high levels of competence in MS Office, MS Project and MS Visio; The ability to work to within a team environment and to tight deadlines; The ability to effectively interpret and communicate complex information to staff at all levels; Experience in managing relationships with suppliers. You may also have: Previous experience working in a Higher Education environment or heavily regulated industry; A Prince 2/ P3O or other relevant project management qualification (e.g. APM / PMI/ Managing Successful Programmes); Knowledge of OGC Gateway Review Processes.
