1 JOB TITLE: Head of Partnerships (Public Sector Scotland) LOCATION: Scotland (Edinburgh/Glasgow) INTRODUCTION TO THE PRINCE S TRUST Youth charity The Prince s Trust helps disadvantaged young people to get their lives on track. It supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed and those struggling at school and at risk of exclusion. Many of the young people helped by The Trust are in or leaving care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems, or they have been in trouble with the law. The Trust s programmes give vulnerable young people the practical and financial support needed to stabilise their lives, helping develop self-esteem and skills for work. Three in four young people supported by The Prince s Trust move into work, education or training. The Prince of Wales s charity has helped 825,000 young people since 1976 and supports over 100 more each day. Our Vision: Every young person should have the chance to succeed. The Trust works with around 58,000 young people across the UK. We support young people through teams of staff, volunteers and delivery partners in three English regions and offices in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each of the regions and countries has a Director and in the countries they are supported by Country Advisory Councils, which are made up of non-executive volunteers. 2 KEY CONTACTS: The Prince s Trust s Public Partnerships Team in Scotland develops relationships with a range of public, private and voluntary organisations. This post will manage and build strategic relationships with national, regional local public sector agencies and organisations in Scotland. The post will also manage and harness value from key strategic relationships with Government and support work we do with 3 rd sector representative groups in Scotland. This role is will create and adapt solutions that in turn generates income for the Trust s work in Scotland adapting to emerging National and regional public sector policy priorities in Scotland identifying and securing resources and partnerships which the Prince s Trust needs to sustain to extend its reach in supporting an increasing number of Scotland s most disadvantaged young people. BUDGET: 1.5m of annual income DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. To generate within wider Team 1.5 million of income from existing and established National and Regional public sector sources in line with the Prince s Trust Scotland annual income targets, e.g. EU funds, Scottish Government, Inspiring Scotland, Big Lottery, DWP, Skills Development Scotland, Cashback for Communities 2. Work with the wider Prince s Trust team to identify, research and support fundraising initiatives, networks and contacts. 3. Manage Partnership Managers (2) in delivering Public Sector Strategy in Scotland, developing and implementing contract management, control and monitoring systems which deliver business plan objectives. 4. Agree annual financial targets for public sector accounts, and reach these targets. 5. Contribute to the development of The Prince s Trust Scotland Partnership strategy in support of the Business Plan. To work with others on bids and opportunities which maximise chances of success. 6. Maintain public sector intelligence and recording of account progress and income received on Raiser s Edge. 7. Provide flexible support to the wider team in Scotland and UK, including support to corporate and philanthropy partners, helping leverage our relationships with Government and policy.

3 8. Support an annual public affairs plan in Scotland which seeks to engage Scotland s key stakeholders and opinion formers. The plan will Influence government and drive support and participation on our programmes and provide a positive voice for young people to influence public opinion and government policy. 9. Write reports, presentations and proposals effectively, demonstrate an understanding of local and national policy and provide services which meet the expectations of the target audience

4 PERSON SPECIFICATION Criteria Essential Desirable Skills and Knowledge: Excellent relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and relate to people at all levels in a range of business functions. Use of a database / CRM system ideally raisers edge A tenacious and innovative commercial flair and linked knowledge of policy and the current issues and barriers experienced by disadvantaged young people. Enthusiastic strong networker with a flair for forming strategic alliances and partnerships. An ability to engage with public sector agencies and research and understand their strategic goals and current policy priorities. An organised, strong project manager with the ability to create and use project/account plans, budgets, and other financial information. Excellent influencing and interpersonal skills, ability to write compelling applications and bids. Deliver inspirational presentations to groups large and small. In depth Knowledge and experience of Scotland funding policy and priorities delivered through national and local government and its agencies. Understanding of the funding streams and opportunities within that space Experience: Strong negotiator and able to follow through and close sophisticated deals. Experienced Public Affairs manager with a proven track record of influencing Local and National Government Experience of European Social Fund and other National and government agency funding streams

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS Salary band/grade Band 3 33,300 to 44,400 per annum Starting salary up to 40,000 per annum
