Diana Award was founded as a legacy to Diana, Princess of Wales belief that young people have the power to change the world for the better. Since 1999, the Diana Award has recognised 39,000 young people who have made a positive difference to their community. By shining the spotlight on these young people with the Diana Award, it establishes them as role models to other young people. But receiving a Diana Award is only the beginning. Through the Diana Network, our Anti-bullying and Mentoring Programmes, we engage, encourage and motivate young people to keep up the good work! We're looking for two enthusiastic new team members to join our London team, to deliver high quality Anti- Bullying training to groups of school aged children and their staff (adults) in various settings across the UK. You will give young people and staff the skills, motivation and knowledge to tackle bullying, empowering them as Anti-Bullying Ambassadors. The successful candidates will travel across the UK delivering high quality and engaging training to school children equipping them and their adults with the skills to tackle bullying. They will manage each event, working hard on recruiting the right number of delegates for each event and ultimately ensuring each user enjoys their training experience. You will need to: Have proven experience of developing and facilitating training for large groups of young people and adults Be willing to travel across the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, and overnight stays when required. Have experience of the primary and secondary school system Be passionate about keeping children and young people safe from bullying. Have an understanding of challenging behaviour and special needs Be self-motivated, organised and highly IT literate. You will also need to have first class communication and negotiation skills to help you effectively communicate and relate to a wide range of people from students to parents, head teachers to youth workers, civil servants to government officials. The successful candidates must have the ability to work independently and manage a range of tasks under pressure. 2 Job Description Post Title: Training and Development Officer Context: The prime purpose of this role is to deliver high quality Anti-Bullying training to groups of school aged children and their staff (adults) in various settings across the UK. You will give young people and staff the skills, motivation and knowledge to tackle bullying, empowering them as Anti-Bullying Ambassadors. Key Purpose: To reduce the incidents of bullying in schools by delivering high quality and engaging Antibullying/behaviour management training sessions to school children equipping them and their adults with the skills to tackle bullying. Vulnerable children will have the confidence and skills through participating in the programme to stand up to bullying behaviour. Responsible to: Anti-Bullying Programme Manager Key Duties: Training Function: To deliver fun, interactive training sessions based on content modules provided To design personalised training session plans for visits to settings To liaise with partner organisations to recruit participants to the programme and ensure each training event reaches agreed target number of guests. To build partnerships with existing and new schools and organisations To assist the Line Manager with any other duties as required Working with volunteers to support training at mass training events Attending and networking at relevant events. Managing a busy schedule of training events across the UK Development Function: Expanding training and development programmes based on identified needs; Developing cost effective and efficient ways of running planned programmes and keeping within budgets; Conducting focus groups to monitor impact of training Monitoring and reviewing the progress of trainees through questionnaires; Support Function: To complete basic administrative duties such as inputting data Will be responsible for all day to day administrative tasks associated with each training event Attend regularly scheduled meetings with other trainers, programme staff and funders. 2

3 Key Skills/Characteristics Essential Previous training experience Marketing skills (telephone/mail) to recruit schools to training events Proven experience of developing and facilitating training for large groups of young people and adults Willing to travel across the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, and overnight stays when required. Experience of the primary and secondary school system Share our passion for keeping children and young people safe in schools and eliminating bullying behaviour. Understanding of challenging behaviour and special needs Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and strong organisational skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels Ability to communicate using technology and develop high quality presentations Ability and confidence to work independently and part of a team. An infectious passion, enthusiasm and charisma. Experience with common office software such as , word processing, presentations and spreadsheets Experience of producing information outputs in a range of formats: reports, briefings, power point presentations etc Ability to develop reports and track data Represent the charity in a professional manner especially when interacting with staff and students Resilient and adaptable and able to work well under pressure and thrive on being given challenges and responsibility Possess strong leadership, negotiation and communication skills. Be passionate about our aims and objectives and committed to working within a small and growing team that goes the extra mile. Willingness to undertake relevant personal development and training. Desirable First Aid training or willingness to receive training An understanding of training procedures and protocols (quality assurance) and knowledge of best practice Knowledge of The Diana Award and services Extensive knowledge of bullying and behaviour, in particular school and government policy 3
