1 JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Hours: Salary: Responsible to: Location: Employer Engagement Officer 22.5 hours a week (Pro-rata) Learning, Skills & Development Manager Birmingham (with a possibility of supporting areas of the Black Country) Background: YMCA Black Country is a group of YMCA charitable companies & associated trading subsidiaries operating in the Black Country, South Staffordshire and Birmingham area, delivering a wide range of community services. The services delivered include supported housing, youth work, childcare and family support, substance misuse support interventions, skills and employment training, health and well-being services. Job Purpose: The post holder will be responsible for establishing partnerships with employers, jobcentre plus and other providers as required. The role will involve securing employment opportunities, work placements, monitoring work experience and other work related learning activity that results in the clients gaining sustainable employment. The role will also ensure that the needs of employers and clients are met. The post holder will set and work towards clear targets and outcomes. Duties and Responsibilities 1. To engage and develop excellent partnerships with employers within Birmingham and Solihull area raising the profile of the YMCA and CGL substance misuse wraparound service. 2. To develop innovative strategies and campaigns that engage employers. 3. To maintain contact with employers to monitor work placements, work based learning, apprenticeships, work experience or other work related activity. 4. To support the Recovery and Employment, Training, Education and Volunteering (ETEV) Navigator team with regular up-dates on employment related issues 5.Work closely with external agencies and internal service providers to engage Reach out Recovery clients into work related experience/ activity with main objective of securing

2 employment. 5. To inspire and motivate employers, training providers and wider community groups to support the development of employment related initiatives. 6. To develop marketing initiatives and events that provide opportunities for employers to meet with potential employees. 7. To create and maintain an employer s database that captures information in relation to the employer and the placement/employment activity using a RAG rated system. 8. To track and monitor placement activity as required. 9. To review and monitor employer feedback to inform quality and improvement cycles. 10. To represent YMCA Black Country Group at external events locally and regionally. 11. To market and promote of the Recovery Charter to employers ensuring take up is effective and delivered in line with requirements. 12. To plan all placements, work experience or volunteering activity in a coordinated way, taking into account the needs of the clients and employers. 13. To ensure placements, work experience or volunteering activity is developed in line with health and safety requirements. 14. To undertake duties in respect of equality and diversity. 16. Attend appropriate employment related meeting both internally and external. 15. In addition to the role set out in this job description the post-holder may, from time to time, be required to undertake additional or other duties as necessary within their capabilities and status to meet the needs of the YMCA Black Country Group. 16. 4 Person Specification Employer Engagement Officer Experience of: - Successful delivery of work related placements Engaging, mentoring and supporting disadvantage individuals and groups Successful employer engagement Health and safety and work based risk assessments and being able to assess accordingly Desirable Essential Skills & Ability Track record in reporting on outputs, outcomes and service evaluations. Proficient in ICT( word, spread sheets and development of databases ) Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent administrative and accurate record keeping ability providing information as required to deadline. Report writing and strategic thinking and planning Ability to build and maintain excellent partnerships Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to influence and persuade To work effectively as part of a wider team Knowledge of: Sector requirements Employer skills requirements Labour market trends Personal and Interpersonal Qualities Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and

Qualifications Degree level or equivalent IAG Qualification or equivalent Mentoring, coaching experience General Being committed to the YMCA s Equality and Diversity Policy. Willingness to develop within the job and undergo relevant training. Ability to respect the Christian Ethos of the YMCA and uphold its values.
