2 About the Program Leadership is critical for the success of any organization and Leadership development is one constant concern of all types of organizations. Development of Leadership skills is more relevant and crucial for managers of any bank and for all sizes. This is because in majority of the instances, branch managers arrive in their roles without much preparation yet have to handle an array of ever changing challenges. This feature is more pronounced in public sector banking and finance field due to the quick rotation of branch heads. Due to the ever increasing variety of operations and compliance requirements, the areas where a branch manager has to devote his/her focus, in addition to achieving stiff business targets is multiplied many fold in current times. It must be stated that the branch Manager continues to be the one point contact for all regulators and supervisors. The transformation process that the Indian banks have been undergoing be it technology driven or leader driven and the mind boggling growth of banking sector makes leadership development crucial for the sustainability of banking. The success of any bank will depend completely on the success of its branches and hence, there is a need to groom Managers in a concerted manner so that the transition will be smooth for all stakeholders. It is important to note that Leadership 1 is not an exclusive top management issue. Banks need leaders in different geographies and various levels. In this milieu, Leadership development issues like communication, delegation, HR functions like motivation have assumed greater significance today more so with changing expectations from the work force who are better educated and who would like their ideas to be heard and implemented if found to be practical. IIBF intends to play a role in this regard by arranging world class leadership development programmes in association with leading organizations from across the world, at the new leadership centre set up at Kohinoor city, Kurla, Mumbai. The current programme is third in such series. Program Overview The Manger Ready programme is a dynamic 3 ½ days learning and development experience for branch managers. 3 Development Dimensions International institute, USA which has more than four decades of experience and is specialised in assessing the leadership requirements of various types of organisations and training for talent management for improving performance 2 and bringing out organisational change. The program commences with a 3 ½ hour assessment of the individual participants about their readiness using computer simulation of real type situations. This assessment tests nine critical competencies for a manager. Subsequent three days of actual training will focus on coaching participants in all aspects of branch management to improve their effectiveness multifold. This approach to the program brings a diverse range of topics into a coherent framework that is easily understood by the participants. These vital general management skills provide a breadth of understanding through the use of continuous interactive situation studies. Ideally they will have approximately 5-10 years work experience with management responsibilities (leading teams & resources), and have been identified to play a strategic role in their organizations.
