1 Corporate Services IT Business Analysis Manager The University is looking for an experienced Business Analysis Manager with a passion and drive to build, develop and deliver a high quality business analysis capability. You will have overall responsibility for the business analysis team and its outputs and will be responsible for developing this area of specialism. The Business Analysis Manager will lead and manage a team of Business Analysts engaged in the full spectrum of Business and IT services delivery. You will work across the University with stakeholders and IT staff to drive the business analysis and requirements specification of high-quality, customer-focussed IT services. Being responsible and accountable for the delivery of business analysis and requirements management across IT service delivery you will manage a portfolio of programme, project and business as usual work. You will establish best practice, improve BA standards and continue building the BA team, thereby positively impacting IT Service delivery. Working with the team, the PMO, Project Managers, Architecture, Development and Test, to develop business and system requirements. You will also interact with IT Operations and Service Management, monitoring activity throughout implementation ensuring the solutions delivered meets the original requirements. 2 Job Description Responsible to: Head of Strategy, Architecture and Assurance Reports to: Head of Strategy, Architecture and Assurance Main duties and responsibilities Contribute to the development and implementation of the IT strategic plan, with specific responsibility for Business Analysis. Lead, develop and be accountable for Business Analysis ensuring that the services are clear, customer-focussed and meet the University s academic and business requirements and are clearly articulated in the Service Catalogue. Lead and develop a consolidated team, through effective management of staff within Business Analysis including coaching, setting and monitoring objectives, recruitment and selection, assessment and SRDS, disciplinary matters and work planning, upholding the IT Behavioural Framework and the University s Leadership and Management Standard. Support staff, customers and stakeholders through any service change programmes, managing expectations and minimising change impact. Build long-term, strategic relationships with internal stakeholders acting as a trusted adviser on Business Analysis. Work collaboratively with the Architecture team to ensure successful delivery of projects that are aligned with the University Strategic Plan and IT Strategy and Architecture. Build long-term, strategic relationships with suppliers and external partners. Manage, monitor and continuously improve Business Analysis service levels, solutions and delivery standards to recognised good practice standards. Contribute to the management and mitigation of IT risks with specific responsibility for Business Analysis Manage and control the use of resources and budgets to achieve service delivery objectives, value-for-money and to meet agreed targets Reporting delivery issues, risks and variances to appropriate managers and working across the IT teams to minimise or mitigate these Own and manage the Business Analysis library including all functional and non-functional Business Requirements, As-Is and To-Be Business Processes. 4 Person Specification Essential Desirable Demonstrate significant experience of working in the field of business analysis, with experience of requirements analysis and management on major projects/programmes Demonstrate extensive understanding and practical application of the requirements capture, analysis and management techniques and tools Demonstrate expert knowledge of modelling and analysist techniques such as UML and BPMN Hold a Business Analysis professional qualification e.g. BCS (previously ISEB) diploma in Business Analysis or IIBA CCBA or CBAP Demonstrate experience of developing and implementing effective standards and strategies that have had a positive impact on service provision Demonstrate experience of effectively leading, managing, motivating and developing teams to improve effectiveness Demonstrate experience of managing multiple projects, identifying and managing risks and working with project management methodologies Demonstrate experience of complex problem solving, making recommendations and taking into consideration variables to achieve the desired outcomes Demonstrate experience of successful resource management including planning, forecasting, monitoring and reviewing resources Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including: o the ability to write reports and present complex information clearly and concisely to a wide range of audiences o effective influencing and negotiating skills o the ability to build rapport and engage effectively with staff and stakeholders. o the ability to work collaboratively whilst taking responsibility for one s own performance and outputs Demonstrate a commitment to customer service excellence Demonstrate ability to manage, prioritise and delegate effectively to ensure delivery of long term strategic aims and shorter term operational requirements Demonstrate a working knowledge of a service management framework (eg ITIL) Demonstrate willingness to support and uphold the IT Behavioural Framework, and the University of Leeds Values Chartered IT Professional status with Business Analysis professional certification at or near consultant / expert level.
