2 RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING APPLICATION (R.P.L & R.C.C) GENERAL INFORMATION Recognition of Prior Learning will incur a fee of $80.00 per unit/module. This fee is required for the administration and tutor costs involved in establishing the RPL process and outcome of the student. BACKGROUND Footscray Community Arts Centre recognises that valuable learning takes place outside their training program and workshops program through: study towards formally recognised qualifications (either fully or partially completed) such as a degree, diploma, or certificate(this is referred to as credentialed study); short courses, offered by professional bodies, voluntary associations, workplaces, trade unions, government agencies and/or community groups, that do not lead to formal qualifications (or non-credentialed learning); work experience; and life experience. POLICY The Centre offers students an opportunity to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL/RCC) for all classes/courses. RPL/RCC should be granted for the module of the accredited course where it can be substantiated that the applicant achieved all the learning outcomes. Individuals who are granted RPL/RCC will have exemption (RPL/RCC) on their statement of result. PROCEDURES Learners who are considering applying for RPL/RCC need to decide whether or not to apply based on the following information. The Centre will recognise your prior learning regardless of when, how or where learning occurred. It may be through work, life experiences, or in formal/informal training. RPL/RCC is a process where you are assessed for what you can already do and the knowledge you possess. 1. RCC/ RPL application date is noted on the workshop participant enrolment form 2. RCC / RPL documentation, assessment processes and outcome is placed in the relevant workshop file. 3. Competencies achieved as a result of RCC/RPL application are dated on the workshop participant record file. 4. Where a workshop participant has already achieved the competencies for part of a module, then that person may be given credit for it provided they supply satisfactory evidence that they currently possess the competencies. 5. Where a workshop participant has already achieved the competencies for a module, then that person must be given credit 6. These Current Competencies may have been developed through formal education and training, through work experience or training or through life experiences. 7. Any workshop participant who believes they have achieved some of the learning outcomes should ask the Trainer for advice for a Recognition of Current Competencies process 8.
