1 C O L O R A D O is seeking an E X E C U T I V E D I R E C T O R The community At the center of San Miguel County in southwest Colorado are the communities of Telluride and Mountain Village. Known for world-class alpine skiing and recreation & cultural events, Telluride and Mountain Village offer visitors the best of both worlds. Mountain Village is perched above the valley floor at 9,500 feet, providing access to the Telluride Ski Resort and Uncompahgre National Forest. The Town of Mountain Village was founded in 1987 and includes approximately 2,100 acres of rolling mountainside. This European-style village offers the best of everything in the Telluride region. The two towns are connected by a free, scenic gondola the only transportation system of its kind in North America. The 13-minute ride is a daily event for residents and visitors alike. 2 The organization Formed in 1984, the Telluride Mountain Village Owners Association (TMVOA) is a non-profit corporation registered with the State of Colorado and managed by an elected Board of Directors. TMVOA is made up of 4 different membership classes Class A: Residential, Class B: Lodging, Class C: Commerical, and Class D: Mountain Member (Telluride Ski and Golf). The organization is funded by quarterly assessments and Real Estate Transfer Assessments (RETA). The quarterly assessment is paid by each owner to cover the operating expenses of TMVOA, which primarily include the operation and maintenance of the gondola, event sponsorship, grant awards, transportation services, and administration. The RETA is assessed when one buys or sells any real estate in Mountain Village. The assessment is 3% of the sale price and payment is submitted with a copy of the deed after the property sale has closed. Some transactions are considered exempt, if they meet specific criteria. The 2013 operating budget is approximately $4.2 million, with the majority of that funding the gondola operation. TMVOA s purpose To promote the health, safety and welfare of all members of TMVOA; to establish, provide and maintain a desirable community and environment for all Owners, Lessees and Guests; and to protect and preserve the property, property values and property rights in the Telluride Mountain Village. 3 Key functions of this position The Director is responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of the administrative functions of the Association as well as for the hiring, discipline, and removal of employees. The Director clearly defines roles and expectations of staff, delineates goals and objectives, and provides incentives for successful achievement. The Executive Director serves at the pleasure of Board of Directors, under the supervision of the Board President, and is responsible for the effective implementation of the policies of the Board. The new Director will provide the Board with sound advice and recommendations concerning the financial condition and future needs of the Association, and is responsible for preparing and submitting a proposed annual budget and a capital asset management program to the Board. The Director will provide objective periodic assessments of the Association s services, programs and events, to ensure consistency with the Board s expectations and the desires of the membership. The Executive Director prepares monthly staff reports and Board packets to assist the Board in making decisions easier and more effectively, and in the best interests of the membership, based upon an objective and thorough assessment of the issues. 3 TMVOA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Relationship with the Board of Directors and Staff. The Executive Director will anticipate and assist the Board in the adoption of responsible and forward-thinking policies and have the ability to accomplish the directives given by the Board in a timely manner. 6 Education and Experience The new Director will possess a Bachelor s degree in public or business administration or a related field and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in city or community association management. A Master s degree in public or business administration is desirable. The preferred candidate will have experience in resort (preferably ski resort) communities, and demonstrate an understanding of tourist-based economies. 7 Compensation package Application & selection process The hiring range for the Executive Director position is $90,000 to $110,000, DOQ.
