7 What is Emotional Intelligence? Self Awareness: Knowing one s internal states, preferences, resources and intuitions Self Regulation: Managing one s internal states, impulses and resources. Motivation: Emotional tendencies that guide or facilitate reaching goals. Empathy: Sensing what people feel, being able to take on their perspective and cultivate rapport with a broad diversity of people Social Skills: Adeptness at inducing desirable responses in others.
